A basic feature is missing. My location defaults to the geo location from my IP address. This is not very accurate. sometimes its off by 50 miles. But most of the time its off by 10 miles. PITA

Great job! I don't see all those functions on my Android phone? My home has a flood canal which flows right through my backyard, so I always worry about flooding when heavy rains begin to fall. You know of a "simple" app to help manage those types of weather events? Thanks for sharing!

Is it possible to download the forecast, so that i can use the app when i don´t have internet?

It's true that many long distance sailors use Windy. I am in the (lightening prone) area of Costa Rica (on my way to the even more lightning prone Panana) and found that Windy (or the data sources) have difficulty predicting the high winds associated with electrical storms. We got caught in 50 to 80 kt wind gusts in the Bay of Fonseca in a thunderstorm that lasted two to three hours, all while Windy was predicting less than 10 kt winds (while accurately predicting the likelihood of thunderstorms). We were fine but some of our buddy boats broke things. I guess the issue is that thunderstorms are local whereas Windy gives you more of a big picture?

Pretty sure the "Extreme Forecast" options doesn't show the chance but actually how extreme it is going to be, where 100% is well above average, 0% is the average and -100% is well below!

TUVM for the walkthru. Very helpful. Oh, btw, the pressure lines are pronounced (ai-sow-lines). Windy is pretty popular with sailors/cruisers. Another video I watched tonight went through the "Distance and planning" feature which is super helpful for someone taking their boat more than a few miles (e.g. 250+). As far as the winds and temps at altitude, this data is extremely important to pilots either commercial or private.

The upper layer option was dismissed as "not entirely useful", or some such a description. Although I am quite an amateur I consider myself well versed in Newtonian physics and picturing it in play. I believe that global warming and the effect it has on weather patterns will become significantly clear once the level of weather activity rises to higher levels due to the higher levels of energy contained within the atmosphere. (I am as blind as a mole regarding deep level oceanic changes.) When higher level updrafts occur in the tropical zone the Coriolis effect will deliver larger volumes of super-cooled moist air, snow, much closer to the sub-tropical regions than before. Once the level of weather activity becomes measurably higher the intensity of storm activity is likely to increase far beyond what one would predict if there was merely an increase in activity at the known and standard levels of weather activity.
