ОтветитьIn italiano pig si dice maiale, porco è la versione dispregiativa
ОтветитьEn español también tenemos la palabra CAN para un perro, pero casi no se usa esa palabra
ОтветитьOwl-
Seems everyone has a different way, though French, Italian, Spanish and a little bit of Romanian take a little bit from the Latin root.
BUT for Spanish: Lettuce is Lechuga, but change that g to z to get the animal! How did that get there?? A non-native speaker can get confused if they don't read or listen carefully...

ОтветитьSo, according to Russian logic, Italy would start a “special military operation” to recover its “lesser brothers”, because it is the only rightful heir to the Roman Empire. But unlike Russia in Ukraine, it would be defeated by France in a matter of weeks.
ОтветитьIt's interesting that the word for dog in latin is "Canis" . Because even though we say "Chien" in french, we call poodles "Caniches" ("Caniche" in its singular form).

Many people are unaware that 2 major languages co existed in ancient Rome: classical Latin was used in the Senate, law, school.. Vulgar Latin was spoken in daily life.
The overlap between Classical and Vulgar Latin is way under 50%. This means the average uneducated person in Rome spoke only Vulgar Latin and would hardly understand "Oxford Latin".
