Honestly Moscow and St. Petersburg are so beautiful and dream like that they probably are the only cities taken care off in Russia.

It's my favorite Russian city also. It's perhaps the most beautiful city in Russia. That Western-ness, despite its err0rs, be embraced around the world is the thing I most wholeheartedly want, and I believe a lot of people would agree with me.

If only there was peace in Russia. I feel so bad for the people; they are treated like pariahs, especially athletes. And this is the country that gave us Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Shostakovich, Tolstoy, Pasternak etc.

I LOVE St Petersburg. I've been there three times now and planning another visit in April. My wife and I plan on retiring in Velikiy Novgorod and will be in St Petersburg frequently. The screen saver on my phone is a picture of my wife from the observation level of St Isaacs. LOL.

In the first block of Nevsky Prospect coming from the Admiralty is a Solovaya #1. The food is great there and the prices excellent. Two blocks away, on Bolshaya Morskaya Ulitsa is a Teremok. They have GREAT blini, pelmini and FANTASTIC mead.

I'd love to live IN St Petersburg but apartments there can be quite expensive. LOL. Still Veliky Novgorod is beautiful and not terribly far away.

Can you get homesick for a place other than where you are from? I certainly feel homesick for Russia.
