I think my biggest hurdle with linux so far is just memorizing cammands, but as someone who is a bit of a tinkerer, this is very much my sort of thing. Windows updates are also super annoying.

This is super useful. I used to operate with files using terminal for years and is too lazy to read the documentations, but this video already satisfied more than I need.

it's way better to use `locate` if you need to search the whole root

GNU/Linux file permissions are a joke. There's no way to use those in a production network of more than a few people. I can't wait for the GNU/Linux systems to support something far more useful like an NTFS ACL.

You need to look into getting fd-find, made in rust. It will crawl your directories in parallel...it's insanely fast. Same with ripgrep vs grep.

Thank you for promoting Gentoo Linux. I would really love if someone made a video that explains how Gentoo Linux has quite a steep learning curve and that it continues to be steep for awhile, but after that phase Gentoo and Linux in general starts to feel easy to use and amazing in every way. I think most will switch back to some other distro when they first try Gentoo, but a lot of people come back to Gentoo and usually in their 2nd attempt they widthstand the learning curve period and become permanent users. It's quite hard to realize that Gentoo really isn't that hard when you are on that learning period.

I pipe the output of plain find to ripgrep. It's faster.

If you only searching in file names, mlocate and its database approach is pretty fast for / level searching.
