The Navy knew there was no reason to use millions of taxpayers money to search after Sun. The Navy should be made to pay the search costs, not unwealthy americans....

Well they should have found something more productive to spend $250,000 on. They were looking to experience a place of death and disaster, and that's exactly what they got. In a sense, I guess they got their money's worth. Rich people need to get a life, or keep the one they had.

David's information is in accurate. There was a number of people in the field who sent a letter to the company voicing there concerns. A gentleman was fired for raising concern. I have not seen any evidence that NASA "designed" the unit. The reality is, it doesn't matter how much education you have, you can still have tunnel vision once you've looked at something hundreds of times. Not having the unit regulated or some outside body to run an analysis on the building materials and their responses to the pressure of the depth of the Titanic, over time from multiple trips, eliminated the chance to possibly locate any issues. The deep ocean is an unforgiving lover who lures you in, but allows for no mistakes.

So now it all makes sense. 😒 CEO Stockton Rush was friends with billionaire Richard Branson who built the personal spaceship called the Virgin Galactic a couple of years back to ascend into space. Richard Branson net worth is over $3 billion and Stockton Rush net worth was only $25 million. I don’t know who gaslighted him to think he could have built a sufficient enough vessel with so little resources. 🙄 This is ridiculous. The US NAVY just spent $5.2 billion to design the safest underwater attack submarine. It literally took under $55 million for billionaire Richard Branson to get the Virgin Galactic spaceship ready for launch. Billionaire Jeff Bezos spent just over $3.4 billion to get Blue Origin ready for launch. The United States Airforce contributed $181 million to Blue Origin to help with launch vehicle development. This CEO put the lives of these people in danger simply because he didn’t know how to put his ego aside. 😔 Seems to me he just was fixated on making a name for himself at the expense of others. He had all the right people with an abundance of knowledge in his corner to properly advise him. He just wouldn’t listen.

No one from the company alerted anyone until hours later. You know how much stuff the Navy detects and has to filter? Only when the support ship contacted the CG and everyone was made aware, then the Navy told them what they thought was detected. They weren't holding back info. MFs always shifting blame or creating conspiracies to cover for incompetence.

I think you still have to do a full blown search with planes and all even with the knowledge that the Navy detected a sound that is consistent with an implosion.

Cmon! ANY equipment is likely to malfunction, and letters were sent to Stockton with their CONCERNS of an impending catastrophe. He was ok with troubleshooting malfunctions while carrying passengers under the Atlantic Ocean. - he was over his head; and ignored recommendations to certify the safety of the vessels. - Titanic did the same, ignoring the recommendations to slow down near icebergs on a moonless night. Catastrophic

"Lots of Monday morning quarterbacking going on now, but nobody thought anything at the time ~" Pogue is not telling the truth at all, here. There've been lawsuits, one experienced engineer was fired, another resigned, and there was plenty of evidence that Rush refused to follow the traditional route of certification. Perhaps this is the price of experimentation and breaking through boundaries, and if everyone involved accepts that -- fine. But to say nobody had concerns until after this occurred is a flat out lie.

That's cool that NASA worked on this, but air and water are way different from each other and materials react differently in both. What works in one may not work in the other.

Oceangate had multiple choices when it came to funding, everything from private investment to offers from shark tank. What kind of shoes did the crew wear? Das boot. It's going to be difficult for the company to claw back their reputation. What does the crew of the Titan have in common with a bag of tomatoes in Gordon Ramsay's kitchen? Both were reduced to a fine red mist.

Maybe the Navy detected what could have been the implosion, but weren’t certain what the noise was. You’d still want to search to be sure and confirm. Hindsight is always 20/20.

Five very foolish rich people on a fools journey. A journey that served no purpose whatsoever. They weren't laying cables, building bridges and skyscrapers. Rather, they were in a hostile, completely unsurvivable environment, that if anything went wrong, it was a death sentence. They're now sharing a watery grave with the real hero's: the brave men who died on the Titanic so women and children could live. "A fool and his money are soon parted." These five are dead proof of that.
The very ignorant man Gail is interviewing mentions Mt. Everest, skydiving and such. What he didn't say is that those who do climb Everest, are told they won't be rescued if something happens. As for skydiving, mountain climbing etc., yet more foolish escapades by bored thrill seekers. All a colossal waste of time and resources if rescuers become involved.
