Already data from England has been published that mRNA vaccines such as Moderna and Pfizer are at worst 2% less effective against this variant. So if you are vaccinated you don't need to wear a mask. Since masks only protect unvaccinated people spreading infection and vaccinated are highly protected I do not see the need for vaccinated to mask up. This is just a continuation of fear mongering and control of the uneducated public. Get the vaccine and this will be the end of the infection pandemic. In my county in California more than 87% are vaccinated, the daily positive cases are 10-20 people. So it is extremely unlikely vaccinated will be infected, and very low probability that remaining unvaccinated will catch this new variant.

Please. I was fully vaccinated as a kid and still got mumps and rubella in junior high. One classmate had to have one of his ball removed from mumps. I'm grateful I didn't have it that bad but I was pretty sick and about half the school caught it. We had all been vaccinated against it.
