** I mistakenly stated that the bars have a 30 degree back sweep when actually it is 45 degrees. A big difference so I just wanted to correct that mistake. Cheers
Ответитьthank you for this. definitely switching over
ОтветитьThanks
ОтветитьWhat modifications to gear shifts and brake levers are needed in going to the Jones H Bar? I have an over 20 year old Trek 4300 with stock Shimano handlebar and brake/shift clusters. I love this bike. But ordered the jones H Bar this week and just stumbled on your channel. Thanks for your channel and info!
ОтветитьI like your front rack. Do you have a link? Thanks.
ОтветитьAlmost 100$,and over half a kilo weight! Capitalism 😅
Greetings from Croatia 😎
I have the Jones H bar loop on order and it should be here tomorrow. Quite excited to give it a try. I did order the custom bag that goes in the loop but I appreciate your comments about how your various camera phone mounts interfered with the use of it. Have you tried mounting extra water bottle bags or feed bags in the loop section? I’m wondering if that might provide me some storage while allowing my phone to be mounted over the top of them as you’s seems to be mounted in this video. I’m also wondering about the foam handlebar grips. I currently have the Ergon grips on my fat bike, which is where this bar is going, and I suspect I won’t be able to use them with the back sweep on the H bar.
ОтветитьSuper helpful review - many thanks! I'm here in Finand setting up for a long trek in a couple of months. This review settled it for me. Now I just have to find the dam bar in Europe!
ОтветитьAwesome to help keep the elderly and those with diminished upper body strength on their bikes👍
ОтветитьIt feels like I've been riding with the Jones bar forever, but it has only been 8 years. The first bike I put them on was my 2016 Trek Stache with 29x3 tires. My typical routes contain pavement, dirt roads, technical single track, and sand. I never once felt limited by the Jones bar. However, I have to say that cornering on single-track took a little getting used to. I love the Jones bar so much that I also put one on my titanium singlespeed. When I'm cruising, my hands typically rest over the welds; when I'm laying down some power, I grasp the sides of the loop section; and when climbing and descending, my hands are on the grips. The ability to make big changes in hand position has been a game-changer for me. The only disappointment I have is with the Jones bag that fits inside the loop. It's definitely a quality bag and it fits perfectly in the loop, but I can't access it unless I take my cycling computer off its mount. The tight fit of the bag within the loop somewhat limits some of my hand positions as well. I found that a burrito bag works better for me.
Ответитьthx. greetings from germany
ОтветитьWho makes that front rack?
ОтветитьAs I get older, I'd prefer comfort and no wrist pain.
ОтветитьGreat video. I also bought the jones bar and love it. I also added a suspension stem which works great on the jones bar.
ОтветитьGreat review, exactly the info I was looking for. Thanks!
ОтветитьWhat brand stem did you go with for that 30 degree? I just ordered a jones and was looking for a stem with those specs and can't find anyhting.
Ответитьwhat is the name on the front Rack
ОтветитьGreat review. I'm looking at these for my Trek Farley.
I think CF vs. aluminum is about more than weight. Carbon is .ore compliant and absorbs chatter and buzz feedback. Basically it's more comfortable. Is it $200 more.comfotsble? I dunno. But I wouldn't dismiss it -- I'll be considering it.
Thank you for sharing. I'm looking at changing out handlebar on my touring bike and I've been looking at the Jones H loop bar. I'm going with the 680. Ride On!
ОтветитьThanks for that video. Question; I am using the Denham/Koga bar (similar to the VO Crazy bar but with no rise) which has a similar sweep back as the H bar. When you changed your stem to bring the bar closer to you, did/do the grips move past the fork stem…and if so, did/do you notice a big difference? Thanks!
ОтветитьWhat water bottle/stem bag is that?
ОтветитьWe ought to have a buffet model to choose a handlebar than having to dispose off the stock handlebar. Same goes with shifters, seats.
ОтветитьGlad I watched your video. Definitely don’t want the jones bar now from what I saw. You have it set to have only one or two hand positions. I definitely need more than that. Also, if your position works for you, all the power to you, but needing to shorten your stem to 60mm when you already have a bar with quite a bit backsweep has me think you need a different size bike, not stem.
ОтветитьI was considering the Jones H bar as well as the Moloko bar…but ended up with the Koga-Denham bar, as I wanted to continue to use my Ortleib ultimate 6 handlebar bag, and both of the other bars wouldn’t accommodate. The Denham bar has a swept hand position and horns for a more forward position for long days in the saddle and foe climbing. That said, I ended up with a Mokolo bar as well because I bought a Surly ECR, which had one as well as a flat bar.
Overall the Denham bar is quite comfortable, especially with the Ergon GC1 grips.
Thank you for your video I am increasingly convinced that it is the right handlebar for my Fargo to replace the woodchipper that makes my fingers fall asleep
ОтветитьThanks for the review. I have developed arthritis at the base of my thumbs and am looking to replace my down bars on my Specialized AWOL primarily used for touring/trekking. Would the Jones H bar be good for my situation. Thanks.
ОтветитьGreat channel. Subscribed. Could I ask what make your Orange front rack is please and how it mounts? Many thanks, Wayne
ОтветитьThanks for the detailed review! This is helpful info.
ОтветитьGreat inspiring video!
Can’t wait to see your next ride!
Can’t wait to get of the indoor trainer!
Cheers
I like your hat in this video. Do you by chance sell them?
Thanks for the review. I just ordered my Jones H bar to put on my gravel bike. I am done with the drops.
ОтветитьI wanted the Jones H-Bar® Loop Titanium 710. But very expensive lucky found same thing in Titanium for $98 on aliexpress .. same same but a lot cheaper it comfortable ride great for touring but not great for single track mountain biking .. good video
ОтветитьI started to use a butterfly bar this past summer for touring. 2400km East coast. It took a bit of getting used to as far a steering goes. You can change the angle and get get more upright. I had drop bars before on my Miyata 1000 touring bike. After a couple weeks on the road I would start getting back and neck pain.
ОтветитьThanks for this review. Still don't know what we are going to do long term, but this looks like a good option.
ОтветитьSo nice that you're still able to get out. Its surprising what a few hundred km's distance does to the weather, I'm still hoping to get a ride or two in before the end of the year but looking less and less likely.
I have looked at the Jone's bar several times, still not ready to pull the trigger but getting closer.
Cheers
Bob...
I really like this style of bar. I have Surly Moloko bars on my Surly ECR which are very similar though weigh in heavier at 709g. Kind of expensive too!
