With all due respect to this analysis and your intention to bring this analysis to our knowledge, we also need to acknowledge the fact that securing a seat at IIT is only the tip of the ice berg. Education at a premier institute like IIT is definitely prestigious and a success story. But there are also down sides to this.

As parents, it is also important for us to take into consideration what our kids are capable of and making them aware of other options in careers if they are not able to make it to IIT. Preparing them from grade 6 is too stressful and very narrow approach to education itself.

Kids are not in that mindset to know what they want to do after 5 or 6 years down the line. That way we are also not giving them a chance to explore other new age careers if they are influenced.

Like i said, getting into IIT is only a start point - journey there is vast like their campuses. Constant stress, pressure and competition is what unfolds throughout. Are our kids made for it ? After hearing about a lot of student suicides at Kota, no parent wants that to happen to anybody else again.

Admission மட்டும் போடனும்.full classes தான் போகனும்.10 th and 12th marks immpartance இல்ல.50%இருந்தா போதும்.only practice neet and jee.Tamilnadu studies only business.

Education system, lack of facilities by the govt to prepare the students for iit …the enormous fees charged by the coaching centres… the stress on students due to reservation …all these also count… you spoke highly about govt doing something … nothing concrete happens there … the whole education system should be revamped

Good effort sir .But you should consider the bramin community who are all dominant in north Indian states . I think they will set the JEE Advanced question according to bramin community. Even they should give some clue to bramin community through their veda preaching. Added to that IIT teachers show discrimination to non bramin community students .All these factors pushes the students and teachers to choose TNEA and deemed university colleges. Thank you for support to TN rural students .

And also TN parents and students are not used to ALL INDIA COUNCELLING rather than TN counselling. That's why so much of medical seat in AIQ is vacant in Tamilnadu even after Round 2

TN education is spoiled at the school level for making money. Can't complain students and parents. It will never change even after a century.

Even if someone starts coaching from Tamil Nadu either they may be not up to the mark or the fees will be on higher side or they dont have online facilities. We need Physics Wallah (Alakh pandey) type guide in Tamil Nadu. Mr.Ashwin s doing fabulous job for beginner Asipirants of JEE. When it comes to TNEA Guidance Mr.Ashwin is Numero Uno.

Need NCERT books atleast for science and maths. Tamil, history, etc can be followed samacheer kalvi books

JEE Advanced questions are set by IITs in round robin basis. IIT exam is primarily an elimination exam, they have to set it as hard as possible, lengthy because there is only 16K seats and more than 10L apply for mains and 2.5L are shortlisted for advanced. Same with NEET. My son got AIR 9K General category rank but still joined in NIT for better branch. Tamilnadu students require a rigorous curriculum and this 'samacheer system' is not sufficient to compete at highest level across states, so either student has to prepare on their own on NCERT syllabus or have to end up going to coaching not only to learn but also practice mock tests, mental ability and withstand the highest amount of stress. The reason why Rajasthan, Telangana/AP and Bihar stares are on top is they are coaching hubs like our Namakkal once factory that produces such output. Kota in Rajastan, Patna and Hyderabad churns out 50% of IITians. These students join these institutions from class 8 or Class 10, like Allen, FITJEE, Aakash, Narayna and Chaitanya .. They focus on JEE more than the board exams. They switch to easier state syllabus which doesn't have weigthage unlike in TN where for TNEA you are shortlisted based on board marks. Here they prepare for board only for few months and get around 75% marks required and focus mainly on solving papers every week, mock tests, practice tests and ensure they are thorough on NCERT syllabus and mentally prepared to face THE TOUGHTEST EXAM in the world.
