Best Mic for YouTube Videos 2022? Rode VideoMic Go II Review (goodbye Rode VideoMicro!)

I clicked on this video because I'm interested in seeing how the VideoMic Go II performs with a GoPro. Your thumbnail shows that mic on a GoPro. But in the video, you don't show or test out the mic with a GoPro.

The NTG sounds the best it has the best upper midrange nclarity but the difference in clarity isn't big and if you edit videos you can get a little more clarity from the Go II microphone by boosting the upper mid-high frequency a bit.

I have the micro. The sound is good..but kinda softer sound than the Go II.
I’m tempted to get the Go II 😊.

Because the videomic go II has USB-c does this mean you can use it directly into the GoPro 9/10 so there's no need for the media mod?

I know I am a little late to this video so hopefully you see this still. Just ordered GoPro Hero 10 wanting a mic to accompany it. I can use my Rode Wireless Go I'm sure, but would also like to add a shotgun mic to the kit. The Go II seems preferable but concerned with the length getting into the shot on a GoPro, any insight you can provide on that front? Thanks

Probably pick this up for my main smaller mic and keep my micro for a b cam or the go pro.

Hi I can get the hero 9 for about $125 cheaper than the 10. Both seem fine after their latest updates (v1.6 and v1.20). Which should I get ?

Man, just bought ZV 1 and VideoMicro and I quite don't like the "high pitch" sound of it. Don't know if it's the 100hz limit that it has, but it sound kinda cold or distant. Probably gona get that GO2. Sounded better imo. Great video and comparison!!

Thanks for the review. I have placed a pre-order for this Videomic Go II as it seems to set a new standard... I listened to the samples a number of times. I was a bit surprised by the NTG. Was the High Pass Filter not activated by any chance? It sounded quite like the Videomicro which cuts sound below 100 Hz by default. Maybe it is because of your voice characteristics that, I liked the rather bassy Videomic Pro Plus the best, maybe that boost in the low-end helped.

Would like to test the NEW Rode Mic Go 2 with app. You can purchase MOVO VXR10-PRO that's very similar and has won many shootout test for $50 but it doesn't offer app controls. Wondering how effective the app is? Thank you for the comparison testing 🙏

I'm going to pick this microphone as a back up to my deity d3 pro.

I think the NTG sounds best, but considering size, this new mic is an awesome option.

Does the videomic go II work with the go pro 10 ?

What manual audio level setting did you have on your ZV-E10 when you had the RODE videomic go II attached? any chance you remember?

I would urge to be care-full with saying that something is "the best" for something. In this case "best mic for computer" that statement is highly debatable. Disregarding SM7B or any selection of other pro audio mics would be unwise

Did anyone else feel that the sony's built in mic sounded best in the forest? The go II sounded boxy in that environment.
