Film Theory: Is SAO the MOST EXPENSIVE GAME EVER? (Sword Art Online)

I thought there was a lot of heavy lifting from the cardinal system in creating NPCs, stories, dungeons, quests, etc. In the game. In theory, each of the 100+ maps would need only a small sampling of human made world building each for the impressively capable and pretty much sentient AI known as the cardinal system to extrapolate on top of it.
(That being said, it would still be an unattainable goal to make money off of with the other costs. The creator of the series clearly did not understand video game development.)

Being in 2023 and looking back after the AI bubble. I feel like a lot of this would be done by an AI. Turning photos into structures then checking them, or perhaps making the full dive stable and giving an artist God powers with certain assets

The game itself wasn't really stand-alone, it was a launch title for the NerveGear, which only about 200,000 were purchased by the time the whole crisis happened.

We haven't seen the actual Gaming VR helmet just like SAO in real life. We only see VR with controller to play that game. (I wanna play that SAO game with VR helmet just like in anime if it actually exists)

See in 2050, that map size will be small compared to other games in 2050. Like how GTA V was huge, but now it's not that big game.

well talking seriously if SAO was really made a game, even if it had to sell that many copies it obviously would easily. Even 28 million copies would be easily reachable in my opinion. taking into account that the most sold game is Minecraft, with 238 million copies sold, is it really that far away for SAO to sell that much? Also, 60$ is fucking cheap for a game with that much depth, I bought Baldur's Gate III for 60$ and it's not like I can smell the grass in the game. I could see it going for even double that amount. also, the SAO world is hugely popular already, I think that marketing would be one of the easiest things to do for this game, there are a lot of people who already know or have watched the anime. personally, even tho I didn't astoundingly like it I would still spend a lot of money to buy the game if it ever released. even if it cost that much I think it would easily make the money back. Does anyone agree or am I far off?
