When I joined the Air Force in 1979 I did not even know that the A 10 existed but then I was living right on the flight line in Colorado springs and I was amazed by the warthog and the pilots as well

I was in the USAF for six years and I got to sit in the warthog back in 1980 or so and I fell in love with it and I am so glad they are keeping it updated

The A10 was retired because it is slow and won't last long on a modern battlefield. There are too many SAMs. Plus, its gun is ineffective against modern armor. It's only role was close air support. 😅
