The lions in Tsavo don’t have manes (the male lions) because of the massive thorn bushes and lack of water. Plus weird fun fact the ground in Tsavo is primarily red clay like dirt and dust opposed to grass and vegetation.

Mane is dependent on the temperatures they live. If it is too hot then the mane goes away to stay cool.

Not all male lions get manes... it's kind of like a silverback gorilla not all gorillas become a silverback, it's the dominant males in the area that get it. If they didn't have manes they were probably low ranking males which is probably which they chose to pair up and hunt humans coupled with the tooth injury. Some female lions get manes too... lions are wacky.

They had manes, they had them removed bc they were made into rugs and then the skins were bought and then stuffed. They were at the field museum in Chicago and it explained why they didn’t have their manes attached to them

I hate how they think they have to kill a certain about of lions In name of conservation I just think if a certain people from certain region never so called discovered these unique animals that they found no other use of these animals except hunt until near extinction just for kicks and giggles and now that they are fixing a problem they are soley responsible for and to now startusing words like surplus of animals as if they now have to kill them and protect them from illegal poachers and unauthorized hunters(themselves) is beyond me How about just killing animals your not familiar with just because they are not native to homeland.Does Europe even have a endangered or extinct animals and if so are Non European people responsible it's population dwindling?

Went to the zoo once and as i was nearing the lion exhibit i heard a roar. It was so loud and bass-y I legit thought it came from some sort of speaker system. You know the usual ones that play nature sounds and such at the zoo. As I turned the corner this male lion was standing on a rock and smelling the air. He roared again and it about made me jump. I never actually realized just how friggin loud a lion roar is. It's kinda nuts.
