When i spar with my students, i usually tell them to ignore hits on the hand because i dont want them to become handsnipers :) i know its not the best way to prepare yourself for a tournament but long and good looking sparring exchanges are just the best thing to look at

In stuff like this, if you want to play it safe, try keeping distance and blocking and looking for openings, if you are aggressive, try and pressure the opponent into a corner or point where you can land a quick and decisive blow to a major organ or other.
