One of the pirates here is called Polanski and is of Polish origin. Interesting because a few years later Roman Polański will direct a movie about pirates. Maybe that's what inspired him?

Why wasn't this movie at least a 3 hour long epic? They had plenty of material written, all of the scenes were great, and we should have seen more of all the actors and actresses.

I enjoyed the movie -- and the politically incorrect exchange of insults before the final battle: "Degenerate!" - "Slut!" -- "Murderer!" - "Filth!" - "Pederast!" You won't hear anything like that in Pirates of the Caribbean. Thank God for the Seventies! And for Robert Shaw and Genevieve Bujold who were very big back then, and rightfully so. Happy New Year everyone!

Grew up watching this in the 80s. One of my favourites. Jane Durant sword fighting was " girl power" long before the Spice Girls came along.

"stole what belonged to the locals?" ...Caribbean natives are what race? There was no locals population. They were imported slaves from Africa. Bought from Muslim slave traders in the Western Sahara and West Africa.

I realize that you put the title of the movies on the thumbnail photos instead of in the title description so that they don't get deleted because of copyright but the problem is that nobody can find the movies by name unless they stumble upon it hence far fewer views, likes and subscriptions but it's your channel so sally forth.

It's so typical for the 1970s to mix different genres (Blaxploitation, Adventure, Horror and Comedy) to reanimate the pirate-film. Very similar like "Il corsaro nero" with Mel Ferrer as the vilain-governour.

I was 10 years old when I saw this movie. My brother, my mother and I went. I fell in love with Robert Shaw. I was teased and told I fell in love with an old man but I didn't care! We all moved the movie and I saw Robert Shaw again in Jaws. I will always have a soft spot for the actor. Thanks for posting the movie, I enjoyed watching it again❤❤❤

I hadn't seen this in many years and I'm an hour into this film and getting pretty bored. It is a pirate movie which takes place entirely on an island (Jamaica) and the heroes run around laughing all the time and the music is all the same over and over again. It is nice seeing the young Robert Shaw (who died at the age of 47 only two years after this movie came out) and the very young James Earl Jones who was pretty lean in those days.

Not a single eye-patch, peg-leg, hook-hand, wise-cracking parrot or jug of rum in the whole picture? WTF? Not enough raping or sodomy either. And whoever heard of weedless, ganja-free Jamaica? And was this filmed before tattoos were invented? Or facial scars? Angelica Huston looks ghastly. The score sounds composed by a plumber or a welder. Darth Vader's voice gets an A+ for his belt and are these the fattest pirates ever? Pirates of the all-you-can-eat buffet. They should cast prettier women, otherwise no one will care.
