as said the diesels do not like a lot of short trips. Definitely recommend a long journey in between

Buy a Manual...Remove the DPF & EGR...and fit a Solid Mass Clutch...Get A Carbon Clean...Stage 1 Map...and away you go....

I've heard that there are loads of problems with the Golf VI to 2012, that were barely touched on in this video - so it's probably not the video you would make your decisions on if you're looking to purchase one second hand

I have a 2012 Golf, bought new, in the entry-level American trim with a 2.5-liter inline five. My one big problem with the car was a constant stalling at stoplights that took seventeen tries for my dealer to fix. The DSG has never been a problem for me because I get my oil changed every year and I drive much less than 14,000 miles annually.

I bought a 1.6TDI back 2016, great MPG and only £30 road tax. Sure it’s not the fastest thing but there’s plenty of low end grunt for overtaking and it’s comfortable for driving around town. Yes the clutch did start to go around 60-70k (I bought it used with 56k) but due to circumstances didn’t get it changed until 114k, so I managed to get it to last that long. I’ve had it 5 years now but it’ll have to go as it’s not ULEZ compliant, if it wasn’t for that I’d probably would keep it.

Vw are very unreliable cars. Ford Focus just need tyres and brakes and rarely any other issues

Purchased a Mk6 GTD a year ago, and can't fault it so far.

As an owner of a mk6 and 7 I would say don’t buy one. Vw don’t make good reliable cars. There ok to begin with but the novelty soon wears off.
Spend your hard earned money elsewhere. Stay clear of vw seat Skoda and Audi’s.

Greetings from South Africa. The Golf 6 is one of my favourite Golf generations, especially with the 1.6l petrol engine. I think the Golf 4, 5 and 6 are the best of the modern golfs.

Just picked up a 1.6 Multifuel that runs of E85 Ethanol, I live in France, the fuel can be found everywhere and it only costs 25€ to fill. Great car!!

Currently looking at a Mk6 as my next car but noticed there was water where spare wheel is. Do you think that this is a major issue and should I stay clear? TIA
