Why Captive State Is More Than an Alien Invasion Story (Nerdist News Edition)

Captive State is the most underrated sci-fi movie of all time. I predict a cult following will continue to grow over the years until it is finally appreciated as the classic that it truly is.

This is a rare and brilliant movie that has more than meets the eye. I'm pretty sure that it's prophetic nature of what fear, programming and allowance of humans to be altered to "protect others" and maintain safety can come to in just a couple years was unknown. Sometimes that's the way it works, an interesting aspect of this universe. Profound truth delivered without even the awareness of those creating it. Even when it is obviously a lie, It is also oddly optimistic about the resourcefulness, the altruism and sacrifice that some (very few) are able to pull from within themselves. Part of the alien strategy was to remove history , to take away our heritage a culture, to lock us into manageable encampments that they could control and you will note, no dialogue was allowed. Any of this seem familiar?

Also, I found the modification of the national anthem very interesting.

One of my all time favorite movies....strike a match..start a war. It only takes a small group to light a match. The whole creation of the rebellion was absolutely brilliant. To think I almost stopped watching it at the beginning because it didn't fit the standard alien story line would have been a huge mistake.

3 years into the future, there's no "bomb" on John Goodman bc he was screened by the roaches 2-3x before getting to the elevator. How would they overlook that but keep track of everything going on in Chicago? With drone and infrared tech at their disposal, any thermal or explosive could be easily traced. The biggest problem of this movie, besides being another empty Netflix product, is that it tried to hard to be a different type of invasion/ resistance movie as it downplayed what was being resisted in the first place. You can have the imperial control theme and sense of totalitarian rule, but don't forget to tell a complete story that rewards the viewers with a satisfactory conclusion. Being open ended is fine, but don't use it as a way to try and close the storyline when you've given 0 clues that it will wrap things up without an ending either.

It was great because of the smaller details that make you really think about that reality, like brief moment where a women is mothering an Alien child, just a few second but makes you think wow they are even having the humans raise there offspring. That's deep.

Just saw it in netflix and its a rly Good movie. After Looking for a sequel i found out, that it just made 9 Million Dollars and got some Bad reviews. And i found my self on the Couch and cant believe it. This movie Has evrrything u need for a Good movie and a Nice Twist. Well written and its Not that typical "Invasion" Thing u have seen Million Times before. If u Like clever Good movies with some sci-fi elements, this is the perfect movie. It feels More Like a opener for a series and want to See More of that World and this feeling is soooo rare. Got the Same vibe after watching dune... Just want to See More. Great movie. Yes u will Not See much of that Alien Stuff but its Good. U follow just one clever plot. No avengers Type of Action Stuff, nö dumb jokes on every corner, no one guy beat em All Stuff, this is no generic Stuff.

Seeing people not able to grasp this I am so relieved. There are people more retarded than I am. Yay. Go watch Marvel you pieces of sh!tes.

We basically have been taken over by aliens. The likes of bezo and bg brought us the viroos thru US/Chinese military biowarfare team. falsi is their main mouthpiece here. We are, restricted, masked, locked down, distanced, our holidays all cancelled, etc. When they bought this out I believed it for the first couple weeks, but soon saw thru the facade. Its all about control not health. See the film THEY LIVE.

It's a masterpiece.

I hear a lot of negative reviews about this movie, but I really enjoyed it. It was refreshing to see original story. I dug the idea of how much these characters sacrifice just in the hopes of maybe being that spark that ignites a revolution. Thumbs up for me. More sci-fi

In V the resistance wanted to expose the aliens. Back then, reporters were heroes who exposed injustice and the system was inherently just. If only the people knew...
Here everyone can see the alien exploitation and the fascistic state they prop up, but selfishness rules. The poor are getting poorer, nobody cares. Propaganda and repression keep the status quo.
This is much darker.

Great Film but was a little confused in following the story...The Alien Twisters and Thorn effects were cool...

This was one one of the most intelligent, gripping and adult sci-fi movies that I have ever seen. It's way too bad that the movie did not do much better at the box office. I think main stream sc-fi generally sucks and is too reliant on wizz-bang special effects, pretty faces and contrived teenager love entanglements.

William Mulligan...not great mucles, not great shape, not great fight skills, clearly not a hero or an anti-hero...but Jesus Christ how is he good to finish a movie like a badass.
When he came down in the alien's hive, it was extremely clear that the disaster was incoming...and in the end it arrived.

But isn't this like the TV show Colony. With the chick from the Walking Dead and that dude from Lost. Where the aliens took over and forced humanity in lock down inside of cities.

Original Story!!! Are you fucking kidding? Rupert Wyatt and co-writer Erica Beeney stole the idea from Carlton Cuse and Ryan J. Condal. Did you not watch the tv series they made called Colony starring Josh Holloway and Sarah Wayne Callies?

Everything in the story of Captive State was already done in Colony.

IT IS CLOSE To impossible ,Traveling light years away it will take many generation and food supply and a ship without combustion engines and powerful shields to protect it from meteor and long term radiation to get here,and probably the atmosphere would kill them or low or high gravity of our planet,
