Although I love David Attenborough sometimes this programme is misleading including the title.
When the Asteroid hit it would have killed anything within many hundreds of miles of the impact but it would have taken years before the last Dinosaur became extinct due to starvation and depletion of numbers etc.
It should have been called Dinosaurs, the first day of the beginning of the end but I guess this is entertainment and drama for the less knowledgeable.

What's suspicious is the fact that there logically should be either no evidence of "dinosaurs" at all, or that their evidence should be at least occasionally accompanied by proof i.e. decipherable DNA. But "dinosaurs" have mountains of evidence i.e. fossils (rocks interpreted as bones), trackways, "eggs", coprolites etc. but not one speck of proof i.e. decipherable DNA. Which is just as unlikely as copious proof without any evidence. Face reality, this world is just a lame MMORPG, and one probably designed to sell therapeutic memory wiping upon exit.
