The girl is renting a 4 square meters apartment for 1,300 usd or equivalent to 73,000 Philippine money. Ask filipino people, they will say everything in Singapore is cheaper than Philippines, that is how illiterate Filipino people are. The 4 square meters apartment in Philippines if you rent is like 70 usd a month compared to 1.3k usd in Singapore

Is this salary before or after tax? That makes a huge difference in take home pay depending on how much tax is paid.

World most expensive country to buy a car but taxi & ride hailing ride fare are way very low comparing to other major economies. Have anyone ever thought about it, driver daily overhead such as rental/lease, petrol, carpark and many more.... everything are getting expensive but fare are still pathetic.

For driver, more daily trips plus longer working hours. How to have work life balance like that?

Western tourist also wonder and ask driver how they earn with low ride fares in Singapore.

The price of cara are strategic to control vehicle ownership in such a small country. the Philippines, for example, lose m/billions of dollars due to traffic congestion.

Singapore is expensive, in the Czech Republic where I live we earn much less, but in terms of % rent to salary is worse than in SG, it should be measured in % to salary rather than just $ value, They earn more but spend more.

It is true that the grass is not always greener on the other side. But unfortunately as a minority in Singapore, i cannot stand how majority of singaporeans are getting most opportunities, and foreigners treating us like second class citizens. I’ve worked elsewhere and i have been treated with respect! My ancestors came here for generations. There’s also a fear from the government that singaporean’s are moving out and hence, in their own sneaky way removing the cambridge papers
