I like this guy. He’s a nerd but he’s not a dick about it. I bet he’d be a cool dude to go to a bar with. First of his videos I’ve seen. New to the sport. But I’m all in.

I have watched this video now about 10 times over the time it first got released.
And I still fkn suck at jumping.

I ride an eeb so it's tough to get the bike into the air, so speed is my friend. I clear most big jumps on our trails but I look like a complete dork. The bike's rear just stays low and I squash them.

Maybe time to slow thinga down and start from scratch. Gawd damn MTB can be frustrating. I dropped golf for this and it's sometimes just as taxing to improve.

Thanks for your awesome content

This is a great and simple concept to follow. It seems that it's your back that needs to be perpendicular. The angle of your legs and arms will change depending on the angle of the lip. I also noticed that with these boosting techniques the probability of landing nose first is greatly increased, unfortunately. I guess that's just the way the momentum carries you? This is the scary part for me since either under or overshooting the jump would be devastating landing nose-first. But perhaps there is a difference between this type of nose-first landing and the dreaded dead sailor (buck) variety?

quick question, how do i keep my feet on my pedals during jump? my feet always go off my pedals and up into the air and my feet land on the pedal when the bike hits the ground, i use normal nike shoes when i ride so i dont have clip ins, what do i do?

Great video and info. I love how simple you keep things. Getting back into riding I find my mind swirls with 101 tips I have forgotten. Your straight forward tips are great foundations and I always have a good laugh. How about a video on how to manage drops?

As for landing, loosen your grip and allow your body to float into a horizontal position above your bike. Continue to ghost peddle as you give your buddies a 🤙. Deadman’s Plank with a Yo Buddies

I actually had this epiphany yesterday while out riding. I've only been mountain biking for a few months but I've inline skated for years skating lots of ramps and jumps and it's the exact same principle.

Very well explained

I'm a pretty fast rider (faster than most), but yet was shocked I wasnt clearing most black jumps. This video really cleared things up...I need to stand up and match that pressure. Can't wait to try this now!

Takeoff: check ☑
Now how do I get the bike lined up for landing? I somehow do this unconsciously for the most part, but for big air or downhill jumps , basically it just scares the crap out of me. I’ve come from a dirt bike where I could just adjust my angle with the throttle. MTB feels like I’m just drifting aimlessly through space.
I need to un-learn the throttle and embrace [advice goes here]. Thanks in advance!
Oh this includes rolling into drop offs with a ramp landing.

This man speaks truth! Push into the jump while standing up = pop (and control). Start small, master movement and get used to upward movement, go slowly bigger.
