Witcher 3 - All Witcher Armor Ranked WORST to BEST

Why doesn't this game have a transmog feature like most all other RPG games have. This includes Cyberpunk 2077 made by the same people and it has a transmog feature.

I am curious what an ideal build for the wolf gear would look like compared to the forgotten wolf gear. I feel like when you run the forgotten wolf set with entaglement enchantment, buff all the yrden and aard abilities, and use piercing cold it’s better than wolven.

pre update i usually ran bear armor as a base(still enchanting it to light and using cat school tech) and did a sword alc build using euphoria. was pretty fun and never died on blood and broken bones

So I'm new to this type of game rpg+magic, I'm still learning how everything works and has to be done, so with certain armors you can change the color!? So cool how!? Also what's the cat school stuff and how do you use this or what do I do to activate this and how do I get it? There is so much I don't know, it so cool learning all this, I feel almost like I've got it the best cuz I'm new to all this magic stuff and this is my first game trying it, this game is absolutely wicked I love it, only complaint, is I wish I had more time to play lol!

netflix gear should get a dishonorary mention

Ursine set transformed in light armor with light armor skill bonus with euphoria with upgraded whirl diameter for swords with all skills giving more adrenaline with 4 decoctions for higher toxicity, one of them Chort decoction, make you unstoppable tank.

I would like to see the different detailed build guides, I'm coming back to TW3 after being away from many years starting a new playthrough on DM

I personally prefer not to use Witcher's sets because there are a lot of sets that just looks better

For example the Order of the Flaming Rose armor, and so one

Regular sets is just cooler idk

The Bear armor is so good its still op even if you dont optimise like I did on my first playthrough.
I probably did a lot wrong and I still rarely died.

Bear's biggest upside only come into play if you get hit.

the best places to test armor sets are the hanse bases in touissant, not some random foes. bc geralt can pack a punch against all monsters in one to one battles even with no armor. but those bases are different. they are where the legends are forged. in my experience only the feline set has passed the test. no other set has come close to its damage output in euphoria build. combine it with ekimmara, succubus, water hag and troll decoctions and you start to kill foes with one single blow. whenever you get hit you get your vitality back with one fatal blow with ekimmara decoction in effect. severance enchantment also works nice against multiple enemies. overall its only drawback is that its stamina regeneration is nowhere near the griffin armor set but still it's been he most fun way to play the game for me.

In my first playthrough I used the Griffin armor (good stats)
but in the second one I changed to Wolf armor because the drawbacks create a challenge for me when combat became repetitive

Played this game long ago and I don't remember much but! I do remember that I kinda struggled on hardest difficulty, had to use alchemy a lot, potions and stuff UNTIL I got bear set. Then everything went from hard and annoying to hot knife through butter.

I feel like a good few of the people who dislike the Griffon set's appearance care more about vanity than functionality in their fantasy armor. Fair enough. The Griffon's hauberk has a potbelly so as to prevent pointed and blunt strikes like sword tips, claws, maces or brute strength from dealing mortal blows to the wearer.

It looks as tight as it actually is from the back however imo. Definitely appears really ugly on first impressions in the menu.

The Bear School armor is probably the nicest looking and most widely liked set.
My personal fav is the Skellige armor and the Griphon armor

did they make Geralt beefier?

I never thought of optimizing the gear in my builds. I always just chose the rule of cool and got the cat, wolf or viper gear.

Even on death march you steamroll the game from alchemy and damage upgrades alone.
Perhaps I should do one more playthrough on the next-gen update to make it an even dozen.

And here I am, watching a W3 video, feeling the itch to play this thing again, after God knows how many playthroughs....

You didn't mention using Eurphoria with the manticore armour. I haven't played since the update so I don't know what they've changed, but that used to be pretty broken. I absolutely melted Dettlaff on death march with it.

Edit: I see they capped the damage increase at 75%. I was able to reach over 200% before. RIP manticore armour.

I have used the Ursine build in my first play through and now I’m using the Griffin one!!!

I freakin love both, but the Yrden sign on the Griffin is just amazing!!!

The Ursine is amazing but it gets boring in a while!!!

As a player who always goes the jack of all trades route, the wolf set is my most used 😅

What I really hate is that the ceiling for optimization is so high. But for what? You only get to this point of optimization after clearing anything this would be helpful for. New Game plus? This might be a very subjective view, but new game plus sucks. I don't understand why anyone would play new game plus, in this game, or most other games. It just seems like such an unappealing, boring thing to do. I really wish the game pushed combat harder much earlier to justify the existence of all these mechanics.

I wish we could customize the looks with whatever armour.

If I was Henry Cavill I would’ve been PISSED for not wearing any school armor. Just the lame black ones.

The best defense is a good offense. Geralt is so fast and with the stamina regeneration you can dodge and avoid attacks with ease. It’s all subjective but my play style is attack attack attack

Yea a griffin video with sign focusing would be appreciated in depth as well

I went with a bleed and alchemy build with the wolven set. The set bonus builds off of bleed, and with Flood of Anger I got the benefits of the sign intensity buffs without needing the investment.

I used decoctions, adrenaline points, and all the buffing alchemy skills to more or less imitate an all round build.

I just want there to be a transmog and not walking around in armor that looks like a potatoe sack of i'm not able to get to the witcher armor sets yet

I went for the normal wolf set for 1 stat that it gives 20% more adrenaline on the chestpiece combine with adrenaline revive which has a very short cooldown and having just 1 adrenaline heals you to half health max healing you to full combining with my 75% damage perks plus the 20% from the armor theres almost no chance for me to die as i also put the perk that i start out the fight with 1 adrenaline meaning this build although does not giving the best reductions or best damage the overall survivality is so good and the damage i deal with swords and overall is good enough i went a bit into signs and this build is so brain dead aslong as you dont willingly try to die you wont i have no problem with the game while playing on blood sweat and tears difficulty

I hate that the cat armor is the build that I want to go with. It looks dumb and I don't like cats.

The most fun I´ve had with combat in W3 was whirl so I always went for cat. Also looks the best, at least the base armor, the upgrades are visual downgrade.

Something about the cat set that you didn't mention is that on top of the normal pieces it also has a crossbow that contributes to the set bonus, meaning you can replace one of your other pieces with something else and still get the full bonus like replacing the silver sword with Aerondight.

What about Tesham Mutna armor/gear?

It's funny how the Netflix armor represents the entire show I regards to the original
The original (or regular) wolf gear is better in any way and the books are way better than the disgrace of a show Netflix's the witcher is

I love the Hen Gaidth armor. It’s a great throwback to Gary Oldman in Dracula and the perks are pretty good all around.

For me armor is just for the looks. I leave my Kaer Morhen armor on until I get my 1st full Witcher set. You're a Witcher, don't get hit

Slimmer griffin armor mod erases the main complaint about griffin armor. Be mad, Griffin is winning
