Or.. and just hear me out on this one... this is a shitty blatant cash grab movie with a overly hammy comedic actor badly adapting a book that was written by a crazy person who habitually writes about nonsense and made decades after it was written.

Not only would that normally be completely unintelligible, but then they tried unsuccessfully to slice the story apart and insert tons of meta humor and stupid jokes to fill time. Not once did anyone ever consider the continuity or if it made any sense or not. That's my theory. :D

I figured the whole thing out...Remember how the cat advertises Universal Sudios and how this whole place is a play? This movie is not only a movie within a movie, but it's a movie made by Universal within a movie made by Universal. They are self promoting Universal studios because Universal made this movie, and because of the Seuss attractions at Universal Studios. Which could mean one thing: This whole movie is a commentary by Universal. A commentary about a movie that is a disgrace to Dr. Seuss's legacy and how they are aware of it and they do not care. And finally...This movie came out after Seuss' death so they did not only spit on his legacy without Seuss yelling at them, but also made money off of it. This movie is a symbol of shamelessness, awareness, AND soulless and they are aware of it. This is not Dr. Seuss' Cat in the Hat, this is a horror movie called Universal's Cat in the Hat.

I think the Cat in the Hat is just a demon who feeds on joy, maybe had a run in with the mom when she was a kid which is why he dislikes her, and is trying to reach out to the audience and the kids to give them joy so it can feed off them, but is an eldritch creature that cannot comprehend what we get joy from and so is failing miserably.
