How to Connect a MIDI Keyboard to a Computer

I'm learning to play the keyboard now, and I play at my church.
But I don't know how to play many of the hymns they ask me to play.
So I would like to record, put all the hymns on my CASIOTONE CT S-200 keyboard so it can automatically play the hymns that I don't know how to play yet.

Seems kinda pointless when you can just input from the keyboard into the interface or into your mixer and record one and done without all the steps.

I have an Alternate Mode Trapkat from 1988? It has MIDI out. My Sound Source is a Pearl Mimic Pro, which has in, out and thru. So would I go from the out in the trapkat, to the in port of the Mimic and from the out port of the Mimic into the laptop?

focusrite 2i1 freakin third iteration of thsi thing and they couldn't be bothered to put a midi input..among all the other shortcomings of this thing

i connected my electronic keyboard ( Yamaha P-60) onto my mac. using Logic Pro X , i want to know how to play a midi file and have the output onto the electronic keyboard. all the you tube videos focus on playing the electronic keyboard and recording via Logic Pro. So i sort of want a reverse situation.

everything works until the point of actually broadcasting sound. it detects my device im able to select but when i hit record nothing comes though can anyone help

I tried to connect my Yamaha portable Grand dgx230 and it didn't work I went on bandlab and clicked the MIDI device icon and I connected the USB B cable to my keyboard and my PC and it didn't show up in band lab I do not know what I'm doing wrong

But - can I connect a midi keyboard controller to a laptop (Windows 10) and play sound via the keyboard and sound through the computer? I am a music teacher and I want to demonstrate music theory to students. Does a computer need software so the keys produce the proper pitch? I do not need good sound, even a generic computer-ish sound would work fine. Thanks.

I have a Yamaha PSR E213. Where it doesn't have those R and L/MONO ports. So are you saying if I export a recording, it won't have any sound?

Win 10 seems to have difficulty recognizing midilink . It works for a while then suddenly stops, the only solution I have found is to simply uninstall the driver then restart the computer and then it works again, this is vey annoying. Maybe it's just me...

I know this is an old video but I really wish I saw this when it came out. I have a Roland FA 07 and when I finally got it setup (which took me a long time) I could only record the audio, like you would for electric guitar. That was great in itself but If I wanted to edit it later I'd have to re-record it. Watching this video helped me figure it out. Some just explain what to do or just show you (doesn't always help) You did both and I'm on my way, I already have a template with the 2 tracks already set up. Thank you so much all your videos are very helpful.

Just to make my self clear, Synth keyboard sent to notes to the DAW, and the DAW sent a request to the keyboard to pick up the tone And finally created an analog waveform, correct? I mean, NO Visrtual Instrument (VST) was used. So the tones were actually from the actual physical keyboard?

Hello, I am in need of help. I was able to record a Midi track with my Digital Piano P-45 however, converting it into an audio track isn't possible because my piano only has ports that says "sustain" and "phones". Is it possible to convert it another way?
