@MrSandtiger I don't know what number shot he was using, it may have been #4 shot. His shotgun was a Beretta semi-auto, it was a really good gun.

@Metalicarocks100 He gives them to people who like to eat them, but he does not eat them himself.

The best time of year to hunt them is coming up (january/february), I might make a sequel!

What is the purpose behind hunting crows? Is it target practice? eradication due to of over population? Swatting flies it seems would be more entertaining .... you would not have to dress in combat gear and have to pack decoys all over - just some cow or dog shit and a couple of fly swatters and it would be off to the races..

@92359hg When farmers spread their seeds on the field in spring, crows come eat them. If the crows eat even 20% of the seeds the farmers have lost enough of their yield that they will not turn any profit for that season. Not that many people hunt crows so farmers frequently ask the hunter in this film to hunt on their land.

@CharlieColt45 Thank you for the information. I had heard before that crows who had been hunted before learned to stay above the range of the bullets - now I hear it from you - you must admit they are terribly intelligent. I am a die hard crow lover and feed my murder every day. I have lots of video footage and just recently have been trying to capture their vocalizations. BTW - have the crows ever attacked you? If not they will be soon - I am sending my recruits to get you

@CharlieColt45 I live Vancouver BC - apparently we have the largest crow rookery in the world - take a boo at some videos of Vancouver's crows sometime - you would not even have to aim to shoot - the sky is black with them. I would not attempt to offend them when they swarm like they do - it would look like an excerpt from Hitchcock's movie "The Birds" - ever since I was a little girl I loved crows - they were not a common sight - now you hear and see them wherever you go -

whats your favorite shells for hunting crows?

@blackwingA520
@blackwingA520 - 09.03.2012 08:36

@sandman4159 I use whatever is cheap to buy, but my personal favorite is 1 1/8oz. or 1 1/4 oz. of #6 shot. 7 1/2's are great too. I have killed crows out to 50 yards plus ( not the norm by any means) but it can be done with a full choke. Depending on the distance I'm shooting (if I am using decoys or pass shooting), I use anywhere from #8 shot to #4 shot. #6's, 5's and 4's are better in windy conditions.

i also love crows, had one as a pet once, and a couple of magpies, but i still shoot them because it needs to be done and this is the easiest most cost effective way for the farmers to do it, fair play for not being one of these that coes on here and shouts their mouth off coming out witl all sorts of crap, at least you want to learn about it

I am new to crow hunting and have a few questions for you. First of all I have a voice call, but it doesn't sound anywhere close to what yours does. What brand is it, and where did you get it? Also, what brand is your electronic call and where did you get it? I have been looking around for a good electronic call, and really like the one you used in this video. The quicker you could get back to me the better. Thanks for understanding, and good luck hunting.

CROWS are one of the cleverest birds in the British isles...they soon learn to predate on any game birds eggs.ie,pheasant. they also predate on young lambs(usually eating the softest part of the body,eyes and genitals). they also eat crops and seeds. basically they are a farmers nightmare,... regards mikey.

We lose tons of corn every year! One question though! We use 12 gauge and they never get low enough to shoot them. Ive even tried using 3 inch no.4 shot magnums, and that still doesnt shoot far enough. We have a 600$ foxpro call, they swarm us! I dont know how you guys can reach them. Any tips?

Good on ya for saving the crops, nevermind the millions of small mammals and song birds crows kill as well.

More sportsman need to spend a few days a field killing crows to help desirable wildlife populations.
