Avoid Paris. 3rd World City.
ОтветитьI was reached by pickpocket in the metro. They were so fast and organized. By the time you noticed your wallet was gone. It was in the hand of the other guy by the exit. So, be very careful about traveling.
Ответитьto avoid them, don't go to Paris :D
ОтветитьThe clipboard scam is always gypsies. Be extremely alert around then and don’t interact with them, and you’ll be good.
Also firmly reject ANY gift from a stranger. A young African man will insist on giving you a free friendship bracelet which he’ll firmly tie to your wrist. Once that’s done, the free gift will cost you 10-20 Euros. Ignore him or tell him NO.
An older man with no discernable language will offer the woman in a couple a red rose as a present. The moment it’s in her hands, his little paw will be stretched out for a donation. He’s unlikely to settle for anything less than 2 Euros, so just ignore him.
Good advice
ОтветитьMy moms friend got scammed flower shop. One guy asking her questions about flowers while another guy going through her backpack took her wallet. Distraction theft
ОтветитьI know the best way to avoid getting scammed in Paris. I went in the 70's and have never gone back. I despise the French.
ОтветитьA man tried the gold ring scam on us near the Eiffel Tower. I started laughing and yelled hey it is the ring scam, the guy turned and ran away! Also, same trip, my teenage son got trapped by a gypsy woman in the square in front of the Notre Dame and he kept yelling (in English), no I don’t speak English as she tried to tie a friendship bracelet on him. Kinda funny, but I was quite annoyed by the two scams. Which we had read about in the Rick Steves guide book.
ОтветитьI was a victim of pick pocket in the Paris metro way back in 2003. It was a crowded train and the guy who boarded behind me just as the train was about to move kicked my purse and it was lost forever
ОтветитьOh dear! I have enthused over their kindness, very loudly, and walked off with the flowers. I did not know it was a scam..no wonder they looked shocked. It works because they don't want the police arriving.
ОтветитьMy son (6ft3inches) felt someone go for his eel skin wallet in his back pocket (The scales mean it isn't easy to get it out) at the notorious train station in Rome. he spun around to throttle the person but it was a tiny little 'person ' from 'somewhere' and only came up to my son's shoulder. My son said the poor soul looked terrified and ran away before the police came. Always look as though you are be prepared to fight, even if you aren't! Another time he was harrassed in London by a couple of young 'persons' and he simply put down his two suitcases and said "I am from Texas and we kill people like you!" He said they cleared off pretty quickly;they have seen the John Wayne movies too! These are usually sickly losers but take care as the new sort of unlawful immigrants have knives and stabbing is their way of 'integrating' in the new multicultural world.
ОтветитьLearn the local language for "Thief" And shout it at the top of your voice? I am a shrieking fish wife if messed with (ask my kids!) and my husband was approached by 'certain persons" using the "push a paper in your face while the kids go through your pockets" trick. I turned back and saw him looking helpless and began to scream and shout at the woman. They cleared off down a side street. Noise is not what these thieves want.
ОтветитьSo what's the problem with the law not coming down on these people?
ОтветитьToo many parasites, I would rather stay home.
ОтветитьParis is ranked the 10th in a list of the more dangerous cities in Europe. Marseille, Montpelier, Grenoble, Nantes, Nice and Lyon— then 7 french cities— are also ranked in the first 15! 7 out of 15!!! I’m french and it’s not a coincidence... France, and specially Paris (where I lived in the last 90s, first 00) is no longer the special city used to be anymore. Just remember the CL final, was an awful image... Anyway, besides Neuilly (where I lived, but you will be as safe as really bored), avoid north/east (X, XVIII, XIX...) and stay at VII Gros-Caillou side or XIV Luxembourg side. And of course, eyes wide open and try to travel or visit with friends or more people.
ОтветитьLove your videos. Informative and well presented ❤
ОтветитьThis vid is complete BS, there are scammers everywhere, not just Paris. This woman is either shockingly naive or dishonest.

ОтветитьGeez, Paris sounds like a shit hole lol. Tip 1: Maybe don't go to Paris lol
ОтветитьI stayed in Paris for a couple of weeks back in October and fortunately nothing happened to me. Though this video provided me with scam information I didn't know about. Thanks :)
ОтветитьGreat video. I am going to Paris in May and will wear a money belt and sling bag. BUT, I'm also going to have a "decoy" wallet hanging from my back pocket. It will be loaded with play money and a smiley emoji inside. Can't wait.....
ОтветитьIt's good you do these videos to educate tourists. Still someone should educate the government and police about how to stop these scams. Such scams happen in poor, politically unstable countries where there is breakdown of rule of law. However, France is among of a handful of developed countries where tourist scams contribute perhaps as much to GDP as legitimate tourism. That is the reason I would personally never go to France as a tourist. I would prefer to go to Amsterdam or Singapore instead. It is not that crime or fraud never happens there but it snot the norm in those places unlike it is in Paris. The government and police can very easily stop this if they want to but I guess they are also part of the underground scam enterprise.
ОтветитьReal official scam: There are so many videos on scams in Paris. I just came back from Paris and wanted to share an official scam. I have not seen anyone mention this in their videos.
I arrived at Paris CDG airport on Nov-22, 2024 from Icelandair. Before getting out on the street I see an official "currency Exchange" booth. I asked for 100 euros and I paid $154 in exchange. It should not be more than $110. Keep in mind that in Paris you do not need Euros. Anything big or small, just touch/insert your credit card or pay by phone.
I wonder what skin color do these scammers have most often, hmm...
ОтветитьScary! So glad that I'm not traveling.
Ответитьthe clipboard scam happened to me at the louvre ! last may right in front of the Pyramid.
ОтветитьSi c'est gratuit je n'en veux pas
ОтветитьI had my wallet stolen by a pickpocket while getting into an over-crowded metro. In the end I've decided that Paris is a mean city where the police have given up/don't care and allow these crimes to happen. I don't plan on returning...
Ответить🎉🎉😊😊
ОтветитьI renember waiting on an uber and got the wrong car, the number plates were the similar.
Ответить"Anyone in plain clothing." - I got a frantic call from the bartender I was manager over in San Antonio Texas. Two plain clothes "detectives" had flashed her a badge, and demanded to do an instant "audit" of her cash till. I told her not to agree to anything, tell them only the owner could authorize that, and to call him at once. They suddenly got a more urgent call, and said they would return, but never did. Funny that!
Ответитьrule 1. dont act like an american or dress like an american.
ОтветитьThe hold my fake baby while I adjust my pram scam is still around.Once you're hands are full and you're distracted you are an easy mark.
ОтветитьI’ll be going 3rd week to 4th week of June 2025! Great video!
ОтветитьThank You! So Much.
