Apple: Boasts about self repair
Also apple: Makes it f*cking impossible to repair anything by yourself

They really should not be allowed to release anything that stops a consumer from repairing it! Wankers

thank you for this video. I have purchased 2 apple laptops in my life. The last one is from 2010. It cost a lot of money. But now I prefer buying Thinkpads because they are cheap, they do the job for me. I dont really need mac os in my life anymore...

I work at an AASP and get that same weird graphical thing on every display replacement until I run system configurator inside GSX. Potentially a firmware reset using Apple Configurator 2 might resolve?

60 screws! Apple computers used to be sensibly, even beautifully designed. Instead what we have here is an overengineered nightmare. Worse than that, it's like they now ask for your credit card when you buy it, but never give it back.

Maybe its about time that consumers get together. Reclaim their dignity, and do to Apple what consumers have done to Bud Light. Except to all of Apple products and services. What do you people think. I personally have never nor shall ever buy any Apple product or service. That has been my choice. Everyone else can decide what they believe they need to do. Its your own personal choice as it was mine years ago.

Long shot idea. What if in case of an aftermarket screen replacement (without swapping the 2 chips) we get the apple OEM lid sensor and ask for calibration. Would that fix the screen artifacts too?

hey if gullable idiots want to waste their money on a product that dies easy and is impossible to repair, its not my money, not my problem.

Macs have been my choice for decades, even through the crisis years of the late 90's. They were the best, and maintainability was very good... up to 2012. Since then, it has been downhill. First they soldered the RAM (no way around that), then glued the battery (which we can handle with some care, but when they soldered the SSD, I felt I must look elsewhere. Yes, you can de-solder the SSD and upgrade it, but that looks really hard to do.

This feel bad, I have so much Mac specific code I have written, not to mention good Mac-only software, so I have to rebuild my entire workflow, but now Linux is the only possible path forward for me, maybe with a Framework computer, if they survive long enough.

This is why I never but anything from Apple, they always just wanted to control everything they made.

all things considered i'm alright with the inner components being not swapable because security i guess but the display the sensor thats just plain bad if something is broken i tend to fix it myself as a hobby and for knowledge locking people out like those simple things to those who wants to repair by themselves is a bad practice.

Apple: "We care about the environment"

The same Apple: *Rigorously enforces the 'iCloud lock' which causes tens if not hundreds of millions of perfectly good Apple devices being scrapped each year and over-engineers their devices in a particular mannner to make third party repairs virtually impossible.
