So I'm trying to update my pc to Windows 11 but my processors isn't compatible, should i upgrade my process or just get a new pc?

Even some ppl are like me having both old and new pc, what about old should we throw it out only because Microsoft decided to that they won't allow it.

Too much e-waste is generated in the name of corporate greed with little benefit to consumers... Hope legislation will step in and force them to accept older and more than capable hardware. With Windows 10 the user become the product and now its not enough! They can enable the "extra features" that no one ask for on the "supported hardware"!

Both of my computers have powerful i7 7700k or i7 7700HQ processors used for video editing. But too weak for Windows 11! Maybe I should look at Apple - my resistance is broken!

The problem is, I spent $104 on windows 11 because my version of windows 10 was with the watermark and stuff. When I bought it, didn’t do much research. Now I’m short $104 and have an operating system on a thumb drive that I can’t use. :) fun times

I have a 7th gen CPU i7, its the only thing that my laptop is not compatible with windows 11 .

The most affected are people who bought expensive high-end hardware from 2016/2017. Windows 10 security support ends in oct 2025. So all my 3 PCs from 2016 (i5-6400) and 2017 (i5-7600K, i5-7500) will become officially useless and unsellable. That's so stupid!!!! The only official solution I know is to install another OS for example Chrome OS Flex or Linux on it... But those OS maybe not great for the expensive graphic cards inside. I am the most angry about the depreciation (huge lost of €-value) of the harware because of the future minimum requirements.

For me, the not-install-11 deal breaker was the elimination of local accounts. I refuse to become "one of us". unless MS relents on this, I'll be moving to Linux when the time comes.

I was able to bypass the TPM and CPU checks on install. Even though my PC is "not supported" I find it works very well. Infact it works better than windows 10. I can easily install a TPM module but the CPU is an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K it is still not supported. I find that a little ridiculous. It's an i7 ! lol That is a sure fire way to lose customers. All operating systems should be backward compatible.

i got my windows 11 and it makes my laptop so slow my specs is 4gb ram, 1tb storage and intel i3 10th gen. should I downgrade my laptop to windows 10? or what will i do to not make it lag?

Years ago in the dark ages before you were born, I was writing BASIC algorithms which would fit into a small pocket computer and I could take these to any construction job site anywhere in the country and use them to fabricate all manner of piping connections with enough accuracy that the fit up and the welding times and the consumables were drastically cut with every single job.... I'm a working man. I put on boots and gloves to go out and earn my living. I don't sit in air conditioned offices in a suit and tie and nor do I spend time reading books or attending colleges or seminars or any learning institutions to stay up to date with the 'speed of light' technology of computing..... That's 'Your' job. My job is to be smart enough to have an idea which I can get up and running with the help of a PC using Microsoft products and then to use it as I choose to use it.... AS I CHOOSE TO USE IT.
Can you see the point I'm trying to make? For my needs, I would ditch every PC I have in front of me right now (4) because they are totally useless. I was able to do MORE 30 years ago than I can do today. I do NOT care the least just what new fancy stuff MS is shoving on to us because it gives me nothing to help me anymore. Can I travel the country to any work site and pull out my top pocket computer and then get to work as I once did? NO.

My pc runs genshin impact 4k 60fps smoothly. Windows pc health checker says my pc doesn’t meet the requirements. There could be a way around it. I have an i7 , 32GB ddr3, gtx1650 super. Yeah bit dated pc but an os should install.

This is so dumb, my dad cant get w11 on his laptop, it has a gtx760m, i5 6200u and 8gb of ram, it has all the requirements of windows 11, but it says the i5 isn’t good enough???? what???

Cause my thinkpad have
-TPM 2.0 must be supported
-CPU Intel core i7-3667
-It supporting secure Boot
-It have 8gb of memory system
-System disk is 240gb
-The processor has two or more cores; processor cores 2
-The processor clock speed is 2.5GHz


The only thing that my PC isn't supporting is CPU. if I try to install it might work...

I have been with Windows since1985; the first time it was available. Deep disappointment my opinion. Not all of us can afford to upgrade computers on a daily, monthly, or yearly level. Retired folks, like me, are thankful Microsoft is giving Win 10 users a free Win 11 update. The slap in the face comes when you can't have it because your device is "inferior". That is an insult I can not ignore. Microsoft, don't cut us out!

why no 7th gen ?

I JUST bought two Hp Elitebook one for me and my wife., mine is a R7 2700u processor 16GB. And it can’t upgrade to windows 11. I love Microsoft Windows but I’m honestly looking at a Mac now. This is too sad.

It is ridiculous that Microsoft is forcing these stringent system requirements. I have older server-processor-based PCs (XEON E5 Series) that are still very fast and viable. Microsoft needs to completely reconsider.

funny thing is even if your system like mine checked all those requirements you would get error like ` your system doesn't meet minimum requirements to run win11` if you see reason because your cpu is not on compatible list. I was like WTF

I do understand, but microsoft said WIN10 is the last and lastest version. And yet windows 11 comes, In and that just takes my thought away that i'm gonna have to buy a new PC after it's out of support.

My Pentium N3700 chip is not supported. However you say there may be additional support in the future. Is my chip likely to be supported? And when would I know?
