SCUM Best Beginner Guide in 2023

This is very good, but honestly you luckily finding thread immediately is pure insanity.

I've gone 12 hours, looking for thread, without finding thread. I feel like the lucky find skips a ton of steps.

Also, the bow doesn't have a dot anymore unless you have a sight on it.

This was solid help. I've been trying to play this game off and on for months but I keep giving up. Last time I got chased down by a mob of tiny people, like 1 foot tall. I have no idea what happened.

I'm 40 hours into SCUM and thanks to you I just realized I can use puppet skin to craft instead of animal skin all the time. SMH

This helps a lot! The Journal Tutorial is handy but too basic imo. I didnt know you could craft rope via using sticks and I thought I need a specific type of item to craft certain things like using rope made from rags to make the backpack. New player btw just got it from the Humble Bundle offer.

totally disagree. my build for current server (hardcore one with rates x0.5) is: 4233; rifles and melee in adv, running is maxed but nothing to endurance, stealth is maxed as I'm solo and have no time pretend I'm a snake, medicine is maxed. all other characteristics are realy easy to level up (except thievery and demolition). I'd even go with 5223 but maxed stealth pays you back thus as I said 3 in dex. and the main problem in con - it's a pain in the ass, even strength is easier to level up

I just downloaded this game, and upon crafting stone knifes it disappears ? Is it a bug or am I doing something wrong.. I crafted in multiple servers and same thing

Interesting you pick engineering... tbh I put nothing in eng cus the skill can be leveled to medium in just 20 mins and leveled to advanced in about an hours at the sawmill... I personally drop dex down to 2.0 and Intel 4.0 but I'm a strict pvp player and got good enough at lock picking that I only need basic to pick locks.. and max running is a must no one will ever be able to shoot you... but hey to each their own this is Def a unique build that works for you!!!

Great tips esp on engineering and thievery. Two very hard to level skills and esp engineering not only affects "how well" you can do something but completely gates you from being able to do certain things. I still am mad about gathering every tool and item needed to repair a car and I just can't do it because... engineering < medium. FML.

If I asked an experienced player: "What are the first steps I have to take in order to have a smoothe and efficient start in SCUM?" this is the best answer you can get in under 10 min. The next episodes, which I hope will come, can easily build on this one.

Wow. You guys are really driving me to do one of these videos.
Never drop CON below 2. Ever. For any reason. if you bitch about
dying a lot or having metabolism problems this is likely why.
Not even gonna touch the black people are hard to see at night.
You have a choice between using your own clothing and puppet
clothing for any make shift backpack. Before you do ANYTHING
when you land take in your environment. Where are you? What is
the temperature there? How close is the nearest clean water source?
As you come down align your sight toward water. That's where you
want to go. If you are the cold biome use puppet clothing for
courier pack. if you are in the hot climate south use your own.
The high top shoes (as they are called) that you start with are actually
all you need for a good while. They are not the worst in the game.
Anyone that has watching my series has seen me put them through hell.
Wait until you find hiking boots or rain boots. Rain boots are the best in
the game but you can't repair them. Think about wet feet. If you use
your own clothing for the courier bag use your top and socks. If
you get your feet wet or go in water you don't want socks on.
You have a choice of inprov bow and improv crossbow when you start.
A crossbow bolt will need feathers so look for hay stacks. Crossbows
also all under rifles in STR. So if you want to use crossbows EVER pile
skill points in rifles and not archery. Best two starter weapons to craft
are improv stone axe and improv stone spear. Regular pointy stick
improv spears are good for throwing and retrieving. The Medical skill
set to Basic will help you heal faster and recover faster when applying
bandages. It also plays with your CON in boosting your immune system.
Medium engineering is good to have for the reasons stated. If you find
a vehicle, jack and repair kit you can change tires, batteries and make
minor repairs as well as switch out parts. Too much STR also makes
you fat which can effect your stamina. So be careful.

I have over 2000 hrs on SCUM and I'm still learning thanks dude.

I'd say advanced rifles is very good, making recoil non existant. Waiting for the "heavy guns" skill to be a thing that would be fun

I have never noticed any benefit in loot from no skill to advanced in awareness. Someone in discord said is a 10% buff 🤢 So if you could find a 70% item it will now be a 77%? Not worth it.

DEX needs a little love from the devs, too many skills into one single category and the points to allocate are too few. They should merge aviation, driving and motorcycling into "Vehicles".
