An incredible performance by Joāo. Fils didn’t play bad, he was just overplayed by the Brazilian.

We will see, if it was the luckiest day from Fonseca or he is really so good, but please get rid of these awful on clothes.....:d doesnt matter how much they pay. Drama from Munar like always, but the biggest question: has Ramos-Vinolas ever hit a winner in his career? or has he even tried it?

player position matters. playing virtually in the front row of the stands is not going to win one many matches. this is a terrible trend nowadays on the tour.

Go back some six months and Arthur Fils was the next big thing. And now he already looks like a future journeyman with inadquate skill set to compete at the highest level. Now we have a shiny new set of toys of the season 2024: Arthur Cazaux and Joao Fonseca! They will the real big names oozing stunning generational talent, we shout out loud. — At least we believe so until the next superkid takes the stage and blinds our senses.

A promising debut from Fonseca. However it seems to me that 1) Fils' shots were frequently landing short, near the service line and, 2) also Fils frequently didn't force Fonseca to move. The combination of these factors allowed Fonseca to Tee-up. So how much of the victory is due to the youngster, and how much is due to a sub-par match by Fils?

I saw young Fonseca last year in the junior Australian Open event.
He got to the final of the boys' doubles with Alexander Blockx.
They played a close singles' match as well at the same tournament.
It'll be interesting to see how Blockx gets on as well but Fonseca looks like a fantastic prospect on this evidence.
For sure.
