HELLO ROB! What are your thoughts on Billy Cobham! I have been a fan of him since the late 60's!
ОтветитьAny drummer not using a practice pad isn't serious about playing.
ОтветитьBloody brilliant stuff, Beatdown!
ОтветитьOn the paradiddle your doing…what notes are you accenting ?
ОтветитьI LOVE THIS GUY!!!!! What a fantastic teacher and person. ;). ❤
ОтветитьFirst time long time. Ur appreciated Rob. Loose control on left hand in Match stick. Exercises to get that technique, hand stick placement?
ОтветитьI loved your joke about guitar, even though that is what I am .I need one for a drum machine dummer please. I did the exercise's, Liked it.
ОтветитьThis is the type of thing that helps build up snare chops, a year ago this would’ve been revolutionary but i’ve spent that year building up snare chops with high lvl solos and now a pratt solo like moby dick, the hardest part of having the chops to do it is easy for me but it’s the rhythms that kill me
ОтветитьI had to comment cuz this is the only video that actually worked...
Cut down the distraction
1 kick 1000 times
Better that 1000 kicks 1 time ❤
I love these exercises! The longer I have been playing, the more I keep coming back to...singles...doubles....and diddles... almost any time I feel weakness... it is me realizing I made it another few years without having to fit a double on a particular beat with a particular hand...or something similar... it is....always one little adjustment... like getting used to landing on my left hand on the e of 2 or whatever... just some small simple thing I notice I have overlooked... exercises like this really help to rapidly break down the tiny little barriers between your hands and unlock all sorts of things you really can never imagine at first. Do these for ten years... you'll discover things....for ten straight years... simple, but limitless. Cheers man, thanks for sharing your craft!
ОтветитьJust got my first drum kit at 35 and looking forward to figuring it out
ОтветитьI live in 2023. Can I still do the rudiments?
ОтветитьI know this a 3 year video but I have to admit my weakness(es). First weakness, is that I've been a "drummer" off and on for 15-ish years. Never learned from the beginning... becasue I'm that kind of person. Couldn't commit to learning then. Now I'm full commented.
2nd weakness is that i don't practice enough with my non dominant hand... left hand. I do all sort of other things at work using my left hand to build strength in it... and trust me it's working. Lol 😅
Committed I will be. No matter how many times a week I practice. Or the longevity of my practices. (Have a semi full kit. Haven't played it yet.) but I have a practice pad and couple pairs of sticks. Every time I sit down to practice I'm always learning and having doing it. Even if it's 240 to 280 bpm for 10 minutes with my left hand only. Thank you! Love the vid! New Sub! 🙂🤙🏼
Love it
Ответить67 years old been trying to play the drums for a few months now, I don’t understand why there’s more drum beats then there are beats on the click. Thank you.
ОтветитьI went from “how could this possibly help me” yesterday to getting 10 bpm faster today. I’m combining it with the towel-on-the-pad for the weaker hand there, lol. Amazing, very helpful channel, thank you
ОтветитьThanks
ОтветитьJust found this series. Excellent breakdowns with instruction. Keep up the good work!
ОтветитьLove these drills! Thank you for showing the sticking, it makes this so much easier to practice.
ОтветитьPeople tell me I'm a terrible listener because I learn everything the hard way but I believe if you know what you're talkin about,,, and you are Dynamite amazing! The way you address things is killer I have learned a lot from you in a short. Of time thanks to your amazing teaching skills thanks Rob
ОтветитьMan I'm digging this exercise!! Only a week in and I feel my coordination, speed, and dynamics improving. I'm incorporating this daily as part of my overall hand development working on doubles, singles, and diddles. Obsessed with my hands.
ОтветитьMan i am weak. This will definitely help my hands
ОтветитьWhat app are you using for the metronome?
ОтветитьFlamuel L Jackson, The hero we all needed
ОтветитьGreat exercises. Thanks
Ответитьthank u man
ОтветитьGreat stuff Rob, thank you again for another sticking exercise :)
ОтветитьFANTASTIC EXERCISE!! 🙌🤗😎👍 thank u!
ОтветитьAs a drummer and a guitar player, I can tell you that you can’t play guitar without a strong sense of rhythm either 😅
ОтветитьHi Rob, I can follow the beat, but I'm having trouble breaking it down. Do you have this beginning pattern written out that I can see visually?
ОтветитьI’ve LOL’d multiple times in this video. I love your stuff, not only is it informative but f’ing funny! “Maybe you should try guitar” LOLOL
ОтветитьSuch a god damn supreme video Rob. This is the catch all tutorial that I've been lookin for dude. Bought your ' Caution! heavy grooves' hoodie. Quality shirts, supreme drummin', thank you sir. Much love.
ОтветитьHardest part for me is to NOT play both chops in the double with acent. More practice..
ОтветитьGreat pattern! Thank you so much! I will include it in my practice rutine. You're more than welcome to check my progress on my channel. From 0 to hero. Tips and tricks ate always welcome. Hope to see you.
ОтветитьHey Rob, I just starting taking drumming seriously, and your channel has been an amazing resource.
I think you manage to boil things down to the essence, a great teacher even from a screen! Thanks!
Thanks! I just bought the practise pad and gonna start training, this rudiment is actually a really great riff (and it is 1:1 used e.g. in Brave new world by Iron Maiden :D)
Thanks dude for all Your videos, it is really pleausre to watch them :)
Can we have some exercises that build up to this? This is too advanced for most people, I would think.
ОтветитьGoing to practice my Hackensacks and Flapjacks too! Thank you again Rob!
Ответитьlove yah Rob! Amazing exercises! ❤
ОтветитьWhat you do, Rob, and maybe subconsciously, is play lightly, and close to the pad, which is very beneficial. For me, I think focusing on light touch with whatever sticking pattern, and staying just above the head, aids greatly in stick control. You're a good soul big guy, and a hell of a player. Thank you for taking the time that you do.
ОтветитьSpot on exercises! I've never ever looked at playing rudiments that way. I'm in and out of keeping up with my regimen lately, this will definitely keep me fresh when I take to my practice pad.
💯% top drawer! 🎼💙🥢🔥
I'll usually only play three stroke rolls ( obviously along with para diddles, singles and doubles tripletise the aforementioned) hand to hand then follow up with 5's, 7's etc.
That's one great alternative way of approaching.
In a scouse accent ~ta la~ 👍
For me, Rob, regarding the first exercise, is keeping the doubles low and even, especially where you alternate with the paradiddle to get to the other hand. Thanks, so much for putting the time in that you do for all of us.
ОтветитьThanks to the movie Drumline, I can't see you as anyone else but Orlando Jones.
ОтветитьBeen drumming for about 15 years and never practiced rudiments before watching this vid but immediately had to go and buy a practice pad because of this 😂. Thank you sooo much Rob for your passion and amazing ability to pass on this knowledge in a way that really gets others interested and passionate themselves. Keep up the amazing work
Ответить"maybe you should try guitar" dead
ОтветитьCool stuff for daily practice... thx for sharing 👍👍👍👍👍
Ответитьsir why do you have your monitor behind your head? how are you meant to see what youre recording
ОтветитьUhh my secret weapon on drums is the swiss triplet! Between the hands and bass drum is kill!
ОтветитьWatched this a year ago. The most useful exercise I, as a hobby groovist, have ever applied to practice.
