One chilly night later...this IS the issue! I pulled the filter out and lo and behold...HEAT! Glorious heat. The filter was quite dirty and the system did warn me to change the filters two months ago and I procrastinated. It's a new furnace just under a year old, too. This video was a wallet-saver! Thank you.
ОтветитьI was wondering if you can help here. I have an attic unit Trane (lays on the side horizontally) We just had a week-long of zero-degree weather end of January in Chicago, before the arctic blast the temperatures outside were 25 to 30 degrees I was reading a nice 96-98 degrees using the red dot temperature thing to take the reading from the supply registers. Once the big cold blast hit as temperatures were falling to rock bottom my nice 97-98 degrees at the supply registers started slowly turning into 87-89 degrees at supply, later in the night that 87-89 degrees now was down to 84-85, even later as the night went on more my supply was now down to 80-82, and by morning we are at zero outside and my supply vents are down to 78-79 at the registers. What the heck could be causing this? I had to leave the house for a hotel because it was 56 degrees inside!!!! This is NOT an air duct leak, I went up in the attic and right at point exit of the furnace I was getting 80 degrees coming directly out of the furnace itself!!!! This is driving me bonkers! I have a Nest so I can monitor the inside temperature without being home, could this be limit-switch and cutting my burners off "thinking" its overheating? After the cold snap has ended and temperatures rebounded back into the 20's and 30's I was back at that wonderful 97-98 degrees out of the registers. Where was my 97-98 degrees during the coldest time???? And no, I have the cleanest air filter in the neighborhood, nothing is blocking ANY cold air returns, all registers are fully open. Please don't say the filter is dirty like everyone else says because I even took the filter out, and it still ran like this. Please any help here would be greatful.
ОтветитьI put in new batteries , changed the filter , so far working great . Thanks .
ОтветитьEver have a blower motor that seemed to still be working properly but was not moving enough air across the exchanger at high fire so the high limit trips?
ОтветитьGreat info. Thanks.
ОтветитьGreat video! this was exactly my issue. Changed the filter, temperature came up and stabilized at thermostat set temp. Worth noting this happened during a particularly cold spell where the furnace was running a lot.
ОтветитьWell im pretty sure my blower was working, ill be damned when I stuck hand in there that blower blade come around and took off 2 of my digits, permanently left with the "shocker" sign on right hand.....
ОтветитьIt is 5 degrees here this morning and my Thermostat is saying 60° in the house even though it is turned up to seventy. I changed the filter it was a little dirty amd I could tell that there was more air flow after. How long sould it take for the house to warm back up? Google says about a degree an hour does that sound right
ОтветитьWoke up this morning with -1 temps outside and heat in the house at 64 lalthough I'd set it to 70. Did what you suggested and sure enough it was the filter. Ran without for a while and also turned off for 5 seconds in case it was locked out. It's starting to warm-up! You just saved me a really expensive Sunday service call. Thanks so much!
ОтветитьI've never changed the filter before my landlord always does don't come for me loll. But my heater wasn't working right and here it was the filter. So thank you.
ОтветитьLife sver, godbless you
ОтветитьThank you, this helped!
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьMine is doing the opposite. I set it to 72 and it kept going up and was at 80+ when I woke up in the middle of the night. Any ideas?
ОтветитьSo, ran some of these tests and it wasn't my air filter or the thermostat unit. It was my water drain hose from the furnace. The hose was tangled. I untangled the hose and unplugged it to drain a lot of water out. Then I straightened out the hose and made sure it was in a downward slope to drain the water out properly. Now my furnace is running smooth again and the house is back to cozy warm. 😃
ОтветитьThank you, Sir, for this great video!! Goodman Furnace. Installed: 2004. When the upper panel of the furnace is removed; the thermostat reaches its 'set-at-temp'. When the panel is installled, the (thermostat) temp shuts-off less than the 'set-temp'. Why is this happening? Thanx again. Howard
ОтветитьThank you for your videos. Very helpful. So, what about cold spots/rooms in the house during winter? What can be done to remedy aside from changing filter to prevent air flow restrictions?
ОтветитьOk, I think something similar to my rental home. I changed the filter a few months ago, and now the heat will not go past 70. I checked the filter, and it still looks brand new. Like there is nothing in the filter!! I am trying to run it without the filter to see if it corrects the issue. It is not a premium filter, it is a cheapie, but we will see.
ОтветитьExcellent 🥇🥇
ОтветитьDon't use those paper pleated filters, they make the unit work too hard even when they are new. Use the blue media filters.
ОтветитьThank you!!!
ОтветитьMy blower ( gas) was running fine, thermal cupler new, but when I REMOVED the cheaper 2 inch filter which was blocking air flow , it shot up to proper heat instantly..BLESS YOU. I will use slimmer model for heat. never a problem for a/c but I normally use highest quality home depot filters...for pollution
ОтветитьThis was the best video ever!!!!! Super clear and concise… Thank you
ОтветитьGreat tip. I was having same issues. After watching your video I noticed my old fashion filter was filled with dust. I cleaned them and now heating is working fine. Thx a lot.
ОтветитьHello, I live in South Florida and my brand new AC (2 weeks old) ever since it was installed, it runs for about 7 minutes every hour or so. The Thermostat states the temperature desired is reached, and therefore it just turns once (for 7 minutes) every hour.
We set the temp at 72 before bed, and it will just run these 7 mins per hour to maintain that temp.
Now, if I lower the temp by a couple of degrees then it will run for about 12 minutes… However, still just once per hour.
Please let me know what could be the issue. Brand new Ac/Thermostat.
Bro you need a media filter. Toss out that furnace filter and out Media filters in your return grills. That’s what I do and my ducts are clean and my media filters have awesome static pressure.
ОтветитьAnybody that changes a filter with the furnace running is an IMBECILE.
ОтветитьI have a honeywell, There are code lights. But no code translator. My heater runs. But produces no heat. I tried the filter thing, it worked once but after a week the heat failed again. I have almost 60% of a tank.
ОтветитьDo all furnaces have a filter? I've been looking all around my furnace for one and I don't seem to find one.. thank you
ОтветитьIt’s much better advice than greedy tech/companies who are waiting for these moments to rip you off. Thanks
ОтветитьThanks for explaining the system lockout safety setting, & power shutoff furnace reset. My repeated power resets kept restarting the heating element & burners, but they never stayed on due to the lockout. Just like you said and showed on this video, it was a dirty filter. Will buy lesser priced, less restrictive filters going forward, especially during colder winter months. Thank you!
ОтветитьReally nice of you to share thank you 😊
ОтветитьWhat is wrong with an Electric Furnace/HP when it goes into overheat mode repeatedly especially when it's colder? The fan runs of course but it cools the house down before the heating elements kick on. Filter is new, wall thermostat has been replaced, heater strips replaced. My Brother has had people out several times to fix but it still isn't fixed. He lives in Southside Va. so it doesn't get that cold there. Electric bill is sky high as a result of furnace continually running but no heating up the home. The home is only about 900 sq. ft. in size. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
ОтветитьWhat make afurnace come work cut off then want come back on
ОтветитьDUDE!!!!! You are such the BOSS!!!!!!!! Thanks for saving me -- what?? $1000 for a service call and new blower motor -- or getting sucked into buying a whole new system??? MUCH thanks!!!!
Ответитьthank you! you were spot on.
ОтветитьMy thermostat is at 70 but past week it reads 75, and maintenance here says it's fine
ОтветитьHawaii has furnace ?? i thought its warm there
Ответитьthe problem still exists after pulling the filter. When I flip the switch, it came back on for a bit but it is off again
ОтветитьMy furnace trying to come on when I have the switch turn off does that suppose to be doing that.
ОтветитьHi, my cousin have this problem, but his furnace doesn't have any filter except one in the hallway.
ОтветитьFor the past 2 winters, my furnace does not work on days when it gets below 30... HVAC said that I needed to cut a new hole in the ceiling for more airflow. Had this house for 15 yrs without a problem. Replaced the furnace with a Trane 6 yrs ago.... Is he right about the ceiling or should I get a second opinion?
ОтветитьAwesome was about to get a new thermostat. Nice video I bet your getting a loud of views in the winter 🥶!!
ОтветитьHow to cover the exterior gas fireplace fire box?
Ответитьyou r the best,,,what brand do u like best? do you like the metal screen filters, i wash it to clean it?
ОтветитьI’m having this issue now, the heat has been fine all day and now that the temp dropped again I can’t get the thermostat above 66 and it’s blowing cold air 😞
ОтветитьMy furnace not working at all has code 0 on Reheem only 7 years old
ОтветитьVery helpful! Thank you
Ответитьwhat a easy solution you gave. thanks for your tips.
ОтветитьHello. l really love your videos they are so informative and well explained. l have a 20 years old HVAC and when l set the heat to let's say 70 the temperature in the house drops 4-5 sometimes 7 degrees for it to start . Any idea what it could be any kind of sensor going bad ?
