How did you get access to the beta source? and btw to friendly fire in half life games (especially half life 2) use GMOD and load the maps from there it allows you to friendly fire.

I guess friendly fire was removed cause it could break some main event scripts

Also I find it interesting how from what I can tell... The enemy detection is based off of the direct line of sight... Which is kind of dumb

I always wondered where the "You're not the man I thought you were!" was from, It makes so much sense that you could've killed friendlys in the beta, kinda wish it stayed, like in half life 1

2002 Half Life 2 beta worth playing?

actually the npcs being unable to see you through props is an issue with the player hitbox, not the ai. essentially the player in vanilla half life 2 is just a floating pair of eyeballs. so when you put a prop in front of your face. it means your essentially behind cover.

the hl2 beta honestly seems cooler than what we got but damn, retail hl2 still slaps

IIRC (I may be wrong.) the CPs reaction to getting close isnt an AI feature but is instead separately made for them using triggers.

Why you don't use Garry's mod for Source?

The gun sounds in the beta sound way more beefer and they could add all the beta guns just make it so the play could swap out a weapon slot like in counter strike or left 4 dead like for example swap your mp7 for the mp5k in smg slot and have the correct ammunition for the guns like with the ak47 or LMG
