It's crashing because you have it running through Steam. Every game that Steam is involved with has problems, and instead of people accepting that, they instead blame the developer. Everyone I know that has this through GOG has not had a single crash...and everyone I know that has it through Steam, all have crashing problems. You don't force a game that doesn't have DRM to now require it which is exactly what Steam does to this.

i have the gog version bought it June 5th 2018. first game ever from gog that crashed on start-up. love gog. didnt have to do the desktop stuff. just downloaded the PhysX whatever thing and installed and all was good.

Worked for me. Just updated the drivers and it runs like a charm.
This and dumping the .wmv files from the Story into the Data folder.

Thanks! this fixed it for me! ^^ for people using Windows 10 and stuck at the screen resolution part, right click your desktop and click display settings then you set your screen resolution to 1600 x 900 :)

THANK YOU!!! I have an AMD Ryzen 7 1500x with a R9290x, I played the fuck out of the demo when it first came out finally got this last year during a sale played the intro then reinstalled windows and suddenly it would not launch, So thanks just installing the Physx worked for me on the GOG version

im having an issue where it dosent launch and then says syncing and never launches i have the definitive edition. Pls help im launching it from steam
