Congratulations to you all! One burning induction hob question - I'm looking for one which smoothly modulates the power, so when you have a hob ring set to 50% its running at half power continuously, not 100% on/off/on/off etc. The reason for this is every appliance which switches on and off forces some grid draw, while the battery inverter ramps up. It also means other lower power devices can run concurrently, below the inverter output limit. Keen to understand which, if any, induction hobs actually support this. Thanks!

Congrats on the new addition to the family , and of course the new baby 😀. With the induction hob I would get some silicon protection mats for the top as it will start to show scratches otherwise.

What drugs are you on? My total gas bill for the year is £370 for heating and hot water. Absolutly nowhere near this garbage you are being paid to promote!

That's a great point about gas hobs. Not that I ever noticed any difference in living quality, everything feels so much cleaner with induction.

Your info has been extremely useful - many thanks. I’m about to move house to a refurbished 3 bed semi with UFH, 300mm loft insulation, cavity fill and brand new pressurised cylinder. I am therefore considering going for the Cosy 6 and I will use your referral code! The property is currently on oil and needs a new oil tank so I thought it might as well spend the cash on a Cosy 6 install instead!

It's sad that some people feel so threatened by change (whether it's EV's or heat pumps) that they have to try and cast their insecurities onto others by trolling. I'm pretty sure they will turn out to be in the minority that will be last to make the transition and will bemoan the higher costs of heating their homes and the price of their combustible fluid of choice until the day the penny finally drops for them...

Never feature your children in online videos above the baby stage. Totally agree. It will come back to bite you. Not fair on them either in my view. My children requested that we delete all photos of them from Facebook years ago because those images were getting tagged and distributed without us knowing. Nick, some of the points about the location of your Cosy 6 are valid points in regards to theft and Cop
I feel myself its an unusual place for it to be located.
On the positive side since your update video and the planting you've done, once this grows up will make the boxed in pipework unnoticeable.
Regarding the Cosy 6 maybe placing a green metal cage around this would make it more secure and protect the electrical isolation point too.
Hopefully due to you being in a new well insulated house the COp won't be much of an issue with the longer pipe runs, but after using the system for a winter it will be interested to hear your results and how it's performing for you.

At the rate this installation is going, it is going to take a thousand years to offset the carbon used in installing it, with all the visits. Not counting all the raw materials used in the installation.

It’s fine that you’re getting rid of gas altogether but if your justification is that the air in your kitchen is getting “polluted” or unclean and that you’re doing it for the little ones you’re spreading misinformation.

We’ve kept warm and cooked for thousands of years by burning wood and coal which pollute orders of magnitude worse than natural gas. We can take a little extra carbon dioxide from burning gas and most people open the windows when cooking to dehumidify and deodorise the kitchen anyway so the extra CO2 will escape if the extractor doesn’t get rid of it. There’s nothing wrong with just saying you’re doing it for the environment and the good of the planet. There’s no need to spin it.
