Having listened to the second half of this video and seen the other videos, I feel like people are misunderstanding what this video is. This isn't a dental check-up. This patient is getting treatment for snoring/sleep apnea. They say in the video that he was observed in a sleep lap but they haven't got the results yet. This doctor is searching for what could be causing snoring and how to stop it. When he said his teeth "could use a clean", that is because his teeth need to be clean so he can properly treat his snoring if he does go with a mandibular appliance, one of the options he offers in the second half of the video. (And he does. In the following video, the doctor says that now his teeth have been cleaned, he can proceed with getting the appliance made) That is also why he is doing other examinations besides dental ones, as there may be non-dental causes for his snoring.
