Case Study #1: Glamour Magazine’s Showerthoughts
A great example of a successful subreddit is Glamour Magazine’s Showerthoughts. The publisher created a cross-platform campaign to promote their issue with Anna Kendrick’s on the cover. Reddit was the perfect network to start the discussion.

Paradoxically, though, while Reddit hates being advertised to, Reddit loves when advertisers “get it” — or, alternatively, when they basically aren’t hiding who they are or what they are doing. Take Nissan, for example — they had a huge, obvious Reddit campaign in which they very clearly identified themselves. It worked. The end result of the campaign went viral, and it gave them a ton of good press.

A smaller example is something like Transamerica, who knocked it out of the park with an excellent example of Reddit marketing. Essentially, they went into the finance subreddit, and posted Reddit-targeted financial advice, along with something that introduced “them” as “friends” of the site (for details, go through the slides found here).

Overall, the best way to get the most out of reddit is to interact with it. Post incredible photos, videos, ask for help or suggestions (and be prepared for answers you might not have expected!). Upvote relevant comments (by pressing the orange arrow beside each comment or post), and leave your own comments.
Upvoting is what helps your content get to the top of the heap. It’s the same as other social networking features (Digg, StumbleUpon, etc.) in that the more you have, the higher your post will go and possibly make it to the front page.
If you’re looking into Reddit marketing, the best way to start is, well, to start. The sooner you get your hands on Reddit, the sooner you’ll be able to interact with the community without seeming like an outsider.
These actions may not get you the astronomical results you are looking for, but they will help you get started marketing on Reddit the right way. As you learn more about the platform and become a contributing member, you will have more opportunities to reap the marketing benefits Reddit has to offer.
Case study #5: Xbox360
Reddit is a lively community. Users know that asking a technical question, no matter how complex, is likely to get answered. This mindset offers an attractive potential to brands for delivering quality customer service. Right in front of everyone’s eyes.
Xbox 360 is a case in point – the brand directs customers to the right subreddit to help them have their issue resolved as quickly as possible. Redditors can benefit from this repository of useful links and directions. All the while they’re also sharing their experience with Xbox 360.
Getting this type of natural exposure works well for all kinds of brands.
