Connecting a Behringer XR18 to Reaper - Answer To Viewer Question- Listening thru X18

Thank you Alan for making this video I appreciate it very much. So with this set up I am getting a stereo mix only, and with the other set up all channels are coming back from Reaper. With the other set up to bring the channels back I would have to click from analog to USB on the routing page in XR18

great info, what would it take for you to lose the background whatever that is............

The background music is rather bothersome. A nice series for newbies, or as a refresher.

Thank you Alan for this. I have a question. How do I send an individual track to aux 1? I wanna use aux 1 or any other aux for outboard gear. Then send that signal back into the xr18 to record.

How may I Multi Track and Monitor with The XR-18 and Reaper?
I have my XR-18 set up with 2 Vox tracks, 4 drum machine tracks and 8 Synth Tracks.
I have been jamming live with this set up- out putting the two mains to my studio monitors.
All the tracks are recording just fine into Reaper.
I have routed The Master outs of Reaper to the AUX in 17/18 of the XR18 for playback as in this video
This works great to record the drum machine and 1 synth and then play it back.
I would like to record more synth tracks, one at a time and hear the previously recorded tracks through my studio monitors as I play (and hear) the new synth track.
When I tried to do this with the current set up the new synth track is really loud because it is coming through the XR18 twice (I believe) out of the mains to the studio monitors and then into the Aux (17/18) and out to the studio monitors again.
How do you guys monitor your previously recorded tracks and then record your new track while while hearing both through your studio monitors?
The XR18 is to be my permanent recording interface and will never be used for live mixing (except me jamming to write stuff)
I really love your videos by the way, I had the XR18 for a few months and it was a Brick! I could not get it to work until I followed your videos step by step Thank you!

Thanks for helpful videos! I am expecting my XR18 in couple of days. Before that I'd like to ask about one thing. Could I route my interface-settings in Preferences like this: for inputs all 16 channels from XR18. For outputs only Aux/Line 17-18? I have my current sound card/analog recording gear routed somewhat like that. That's because I don't need all 18 channels for outputs (I could imagine?). My need is 16 channels in, one stereo channel out. So TL;DR: can I get only one stereo output for monitoring and do I account from this?

Great stuff - just subscribed. I want to know how to use ReaInsert to get outboard gear into the mix. I've added ReaInstert to the track I want to send and set "Out 17" and "Return 18". I've got meter on the send in Reaper but nothing coming into the outboard gear - -so I'm assuming 17 is only taking "in". How do I set this so I can make an FX Loop send / return out of 17 and 18 (or any combination of the 18 channels) in Reaper/XAir? THANKs!

I use my XR18 both as mixer during live gig and as audio interface with Reaper.
For this latter use I'd like to have your opinion on the technical quality of the XR18 audio interface. Maybe compared to others in the market.
And if there are ways to have the most out of it!

Hi Allen, got kinda a problem, when a person in my band 1st downloaded the Behringer driver for USB recording, it worked perfectly, got it recorded in, was able to play it back without any changes in the routing, it just worked, this was only last week, just this past Sunday, we recorded into reaper, but were not able to play it back, i think we tried everything, different USB cable & everything, i know your a busy guy, & i hate to bother you with my foolish question, but your the expert in the field, but, even tho it worked perfectly the 1st time we used it, in my I/O routing page to USB return, when i click on off analog or 1/16, it doesn't give me a small pop up window to allow the change, now my xr18 is brand new, so im not sure if Behringer has changed anything
Again, the 1st time we used reaper, it all worked perfectly
