Hello Jonathan. Thank you very much for this great video and for mentioning my channel! Greetings from Switzerland
ОтветитьNo awl no can do
ОтветитьFantastic presentation! I'm now 70 and have been carrying Swiss Army knives since I was 13.
ОтветитьIf they would switch the hook for an ale, it would be perfect
ОтветитьIs there a UK distributor for the tooth pick ferro rod? Or an alternative from closer to home? I'd rather not pay $18 in delivery fees.
Great video, currently debating between compact and huntsman. Small is good but I really don't like anything in my pocket. If I'm carrying a bag anyway, thinking I might as well have the benefit of the saw on the huntsman.
I use to carry a SAK. everyone always talks about how great the scissors are. I had to invent ways to use them. Honestly would rather have almost any other tool. Whatever I need a bad pair of scissors for, I can use a knife. I just don't get it lol.
I agree on the size thing though. I would love to get the minichamp model but the knife is so small its basically useless. I just wish the orange peeler came on some bigger models. my EDC knife needs to have a knife big enough to cut an apple and i would love the orange peeler on it.
I use the hook to carry regular plastic shopping bags. It works quite well
ОтветитьSince it's 91mm, does it work with SwissQlip? It's not listed on the compatible models, but I dunno if anyone's tried.
ОтветитьНеправда что он лучший, у него шила нет, а оно часто бывает нужно.
ОтветитьI prefer the larger SAKs for every day, specifically the Handyman/Craftsman. But the Compact is the very best of the smaller models.
ОтветитьPersonal opinion: these knives are too bulky on account of all the useless nonsense they contain. I just want a real knife with a real blade. Anyting needed beyond that I'll figure out with a different tool or whatever it takes. I used to carry one of these knives and they are almost completely useless.
ОтветитьMaybe Victorinox Au could keep a supply of the Fireants at HQ here in Oz. It seems a great accessory to make more available 👍Waiting for mine in the mail from Uncle Sam 🤣
ОтветитьExcellent demonstration. Thank you
Ответитьwhy muck about with hiding tooth pick and tweezers when you can have a sd on your car keyring withscissors as well?
ОтветитьNon-locking blades are a safety issue - our UK laws are extremely dumb in this regard
ОтветитьCorrection: The parcel hook does not, in fact, have any real uses.
ОтветитьThanks for another great video Jon. I love the Compact. It's my everyday carry as well. I carry it even if I'm carrying a larger locking or "tactical" knife. I have modified mine though. I removed the corkscrew and added a Phillips screwdriver. I get way more use out of the screwdriver.
ОтветитьYou forgot about the pin hiding behind de corkscrew
ОтветитьI wish there was a tool that was something like an ice pick, coming out the back, and able to be used to make a self-defense weapon… maybe swap that out for the parcel hook on this?
also, an in-line Phillip head screwdriver, and then a small file would be nice… or just a service where you can custom order knives from Victorinox!
Jon, what if I told you that the parcel hook can easily become your most used, and most appreciated tool on the compact?
Ответитьhi Johnathan
my favourite Swiss army knife is Compact and i have a Huntsman too and you are right about them, they are exactly as you said, Compact is urban EDC and the Huntsman is more towards bushcrafting.
An SAK without a saw us not worth it
ОтветитьI should have done some research before I bought one .I didn't know that there were
ОтветитьThank you John for this video. Because if this I am purchased the Compact about 3/4 year before now and honestly: for me it is the only knife I need for urban EDC. There is no tool more practical out there.
ОтветитьДля города - да, для походов - нет.
ОтветитьI've been carrying a Victorinox Executive for many years. To me it is the perfect EDC pocket knife. For me it is also the scissors that are most used. I like having two blades as I save the small one for when I need a sharp blade. After watching many of your videos I just added the pocket hanger; wish I'd known about it years ago!
I'm considering changing to the compact as the blade is a little more substantial and I can add the Firefly ferro rod. The cost of the Compact is a little off putting though.
Great videos, thank you kind sir!
Many thanks for your helpful video, Jonathan. Indeed I lost lost the Spartan which accompanied me for years lately and I'm hardly pondering whether to replace it with another Spartan or a Compact. Your video might have tipped the balance.
Cheers
Stefan
Always have one on me they are so cute and cuddly.
ОтветитьSold. Just ordered one. Thanks brother! 👌🏻😎👍🏻
ОтветитьWithout awl it’s not soo good as could.
ОтветитьI just ordered one..... And then some plus scales for other knives. And then a swiss champ to replace my old one with no pliers. And a climber and huntsman 😢
ОтветитьGood review, I never considered the Compact before but I am now.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who uses a pocket hanger clip on the keychain!
What is the best that security and airport would not confiscate?
ОтветитьYou might be right! This seems to be a prefect little bare bones edc carry. Since purchasing my two SAK’s the one tool I wound up using every single day so far are those amazing little scissors. I don’t know how I’ve lived without them for so long. And they’re such good quality for the price and nature of the platform. Naturally, the next most useful tool I own is that knife. Can always find a use for a blade on a daily basis. I wouldn’t want to carry anything less on a consistent basis than these 2 tools.
ОтветитьBut will it really screw Philips well enough?
ОтветитьAgreed that the scissors are really good and useful!
ОтветитьVictor Unix are a bunch of crooks. Ordered a two blade bantam knife arrived after two months and only has one blade in it!
ОтветитьHi Jon. Thanks for an informative video. I have a question though. Where can I find the Keysmart (?) Pocket hanger? I found something similar on Amazon but it's not exactly the same. Could you provide a link?
ОтветитьGood vid!
ОтветитьLook some tools while having no practicality at least make sense... are we not going to talk about how stupid that second flat screwdriver on the bottle opener is? How often do you find a bolt on a corner that allows the handle to be lower then the bolt?? That's why they are usually forward... damn it victorinox why do you do this to us
ОтветитьGreat video and I have just ordered one of these very useful looking knives.
ОтветитьI do not think that I can pick one or even two perfect knives. You are better at that than I. When I went to Austria, I had such a difficult time even deciding on the first one to buy. One thing that I do know, like you, is that the scissors are most important, after a blade.
ОтветитьHi. Johnathan, I actually love the hook.
ОтветитьExcellent job on the video!
ОтветитьWhat bothers me about the Compact is the lack of a Phillips driver. Yeah I know you can kind of use the combo tool in a cockeyed way to kind of turn Phillips heads, but it's really not the same. I think they should resume production of the Yeoman because that has the best Phillips, the inline one.
ОтветитьSir, How long does the pen in a SAK 58 mm knife last?
ОтветитьCheck out my avatar. It's my EDC SAK.
ОтветитьAnother great video and a great little knife. Of note, however, is that the Compact is not compatible with the SwissQlip pocket clip. The parcel hook on the Compact impinges on the attaching point for the clip. In fact, the card that the clip comes on does not list the Compact as compatible amongst the 91mm knives. Just an FYI to save your viewers some $$, time and agro. Cheers!
ОтветитьI really use the toothpick very often in my SAK but I also love the firefly. Luckily there is the option to open the hidden slot on the plus scales to carry both. Only the toothpick would need some modification as Felix Immler demonstrated in his channel.
