every time I watch this movie I cry. Frick me its so good. I love it to pieces. It legitimately changed my life and made me a better person. I'm so grateful it exists. Probably my 1st or 2nd favorite movie. This and Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind.

A24 dramas always have me bawling my eyes out. Moonlight was so beautiful. The Whale shattered me. And Waves…well I think you know how I felt after this roller coaster.

First half was amazing. Why did they go ahead and ruin it halfway in.

When I heard SZA and Frank I immediately fell in love.

I love how the trailer is so emotionally moving and still doesn’t even come CLOSE to preparing you for what a emotional experience this movie is. Without saying ANYTHING about the plot, it’s emotional in an incredibly real and grounded way and you feel like you know these people. I would highly recommend going into this film as blind as possible.

Looking at my life when I first watched this film to now. Recent events in my lift have lead me back to this movie to help me understand and not feel alone. Tough stories like this need to be told and I am so thankful A24 helped spread this around.

This is one of the greatest trailers I’ve ever seen. Making a trailer is truly an art form. So many goosebumps, so much emotion. And I’ve seen this film 3 or 4 times already. Makes it seem like I’ve never watched it.

I just wish they casted full black people as the mom and daughter. There is a history of colorism due to colonization/slavery that still haunts our community. Also, the significant others should have been black as well only because of the “push” to make black people especially women non desirable as romantic interests. If you don’t believe me do this quick experiment: look up 20 shows from 2023-1980s and you’ll see what I’m talking about. If you do the search from 2000-1970s it’s worse.

Literally just finished this movie. It’s 11pm and it’s my bedtime but my emotions are rolling and it’s gonna be hard to sleep now. Another win for A24 imo.

I read the comments and I actually thought it's a good movie but no I don't like it at all . I don't recommend it I barely could finish it .

one of my favorite movies ever

I hated all the sex and shower/bathtub scenes with the white guy Luke (director living out his fantasy) and the young Black woman Emily Williams who was a MINOR. That Luke character was not needed at all and put a blemish on what could have been a truly beautiful film.
