This has been so helpful! I went ahead and bought Sibelius after using the free version for awhile--your video helped me finally make the decision! My question now is--I am having a really hard time with the layout when I'm creating music and writing text--like paragraphs. I see you have a document open with pictures, paragraphs and music--do you do all that in Sibelius or do you use another program? I'm trying to create a PDF document with explanations, directions, imagery and music...kind of what you have. I am so lost about where I should be operating from. 😅🎻📚 Thank you so much for any suggestions!!🙏🙏🙏

Do you need a plug in to do that explanation/illustration on your first page (entitled Mechanical Space with a picture) of Sibelius or it come standard with the software?

And Can you do the same with other softwares?

I was happy with Finale when I was composing in the software (v26 and v27). However, I did switch to Dorico 4, and love it even more! I think Sibelius and Pro Tools will be standard for a while. Dorico and MuseScore have potentials to really shake up what we all think of as the "industry standard notation software," especially with the younger composers. I've noticed a lot more younger composers use a mix of finale, sibelius, dorico, and musescore, where older composers are almost completely split between finale and sibelius.

Video was great and informative!

You've never had Sibelius crash on you?

How many four leaf clovers do you have in your pocket. Have you been blessed by a leprechaun?

Dorico is better than Sibelius. I switched 3 years ago, and was the right decision.

I started out on Dorico and love it, plus it doesn't have a subscription. The iPad version integrates really well too. I have a friend who uses it for arranging with NotePerformer and he can't praise it enough (he conducts at the Royal Albert Hall so know's what's what). Dorico works with Cubase pretty well as both are from Steinberg. I'm sure Sib is good too, along with Muse Score and Finale, but given the amount of time needed to learn new software, I'll be sticking with Dorico.

People who are vociferous in their support of Dorico and Finale don’t necessarily love it more than Sibelius. Some of us just loathe Avid.

I agree with you. For a concert piece, I’ll write solely in Sibelius with Noteperformer as a reference. If I’m going to use a DAW, I’ll write the piano sketches on a number of staves in Sibelius and then export them into Logic. Then build up and layer in Logic. Sometimes I have to use Italian instrumentation. Sibelius easily allows me to edit the instrumentation. Dorico produces weird results by adding English tags at the end of Italian nomenclature.
