This was such a damn good movie but it’s a shame to see what happened to the MCU. Visually it was fantastic and the music was just perfect. I don’t know about y’all but Guardians 3 really disappointed me and I don’t know how people seem to love it, when to me it seems terribly written and horribly paced. But Star Lord's introduction is far between iconic from that of Son Goku, Yusuke Urameshi, Spider-Man, Scott Pilgrim, Superman, Batman or someone as mundane as Lydia Deetz. It's almost certain he takes notes from the creators of these characters.

LOL The biggest thing he did getting ready for this movie was actually become muscular as he was very out of shape and flabby in P / R. And he WAS NOT considered handsome for the most part in that role either. Again, it wasn't until his transformation for this role that people began to characterize him as handsome. Missed the mark on that point big time

Guardians of the Galaxy is the best trio of movies in the MCU, that was solidified by Guardians 3.

The problem with DC is that it has amazing stories it could tell, but it doesnt want to take the time to cultivate the universe, on batmans first appearance he was already fighting superman AND doomsday.

also, they either poorly choose or mistreat their actors, given how RDJ stayed from the very beginning, appearing in lots of films, and DC cant even get Henry to do a couple cameos.

I distinctly remember the first time i watched it, not knowing the director and not knowing much about the Marvel universe (comics or films), so that opening scene made me genuinely believe I'd be watching an intense, broody hero, and the moment the music changed I thought, "Oh wow, this might be a really good character, actually."

One thing I wanna say is, I love James Gunn, and I really wish he would stay with Marvel - maybe improve some of their most recent mistakes - so that Marvel can remain the superior franchise. I know for a fact that DC will be what Marvel once was and it makes me sad.

DC is a trainwreck and Gunn will do the unthinkable and makes stuff worse.

Brightburn was kinda disupoint. Its supermen who goes wrong not becose of bad upbringing, controversial ideas, too much psychological trauma and so on, but because he was originally sent with a "mental firmware" to seize the Earth. This makes him an automatically boring character being a psychopathic maniac not based on his experience, but simply by nature.

I don't know why you would compare Gunn with Snyder as they are completely different. Snyder is the grown up version and Gunn is the teen version. Snyder creates a believable character, Gunn creates a joke Disney character. They are both aimed at different audiences.

You're overselling Savant. It was pretty obvious he'll die on the beach. There was no "subverting expectation" in that scene. Gunn isn't the super genius you think he is. If Savant survivesd then that would have been the surprise. It's a Suicide Squad film after all.

no it wasn't, when they introduced star lord it was cringy and problematic.. when he was introduced he was already strong with no back story and none of the gotg characters was introduced to becoming who they are and that was it.. the whole story was an ensembles of unlike heroes and that was it
