I have a requirement. Do not patch the data source until user fills all the mandatory fields. I have created a collection & added the records to this collection whenever user clicks on "Add" button. My question is how to make sure that user fills all the mandatory fields in the collection. Your timely reply would be highly appreciated. Thanks once again for this great video.

First of all, thank you for your solution and your help.
I tried the same solution and it worked for me, but when I tried to replace the dropdown menu with a combo box, it didn't work as the onChange property made the app and MS Power Apps website crash.
Has this happened to you before?

How do I identify the Collection column names? I do not have the option of File, View.

Hi Reza, I followed every step as you suggested in the video, but when it comes to create collection for storing value it resets the value in textinput & in dropdown to blank when I add new row whereas if i used direct patch to datasource instead of storing value in collection it works fine. don't know the reason why this happening, can you please help me into this.

Very nice Reza! I've have created repeating tables using this kind of feature with SPO. I have a collection to store the field inputs too on Change. But when I patch the changes onchange to the collection, I am getting strange UX behaviour.. I can tab to the next field but as soon as I hit the first keystroke the field becomes inactive. And If I use my mouse to click the field same thing happens unless I double click the field. When I clear the code in onchange the issue goes away! Is this a Microsoft bug? Have you come across any ways around this or am I doing something fundamentally wrong? Will appreciate any input :)

does Delete item will update the Dataverse table ? I think you did not change any code to Delete click.

When I press the button to Add a new row, the new row is added but it resets all the other previous rows in the gallery. Once you add the logic to Save information by the save button, do you need to make any change as well to the Add new row button? Any idea as to why adding a new row would resets the previous rows in the gallery?

I feel like Power Apps is SO MUCH HARDER than InfoPath, where I could drag/drop data fields, build a table that contained by data fields in about 5 minutes, and add all kinds of customization without having to learn yet another syntax and write formulas. This is a nice video, but I'm still struggling over the lack of ease of use.

Hi Reza, if we have an excel, 3-4 tabs with 15+ rows in a couple of them, with some excel formulae e.g. vehicle insurance, where you can add/remove packages to come with a custom deal, is canvas app a good solution?

Hi. Whenever I click on Add, it removes the values from other rows in gallery(makes them default values). Any suggestion ? ( Collect(colTaskUpdates,{ThisItem."source") source doesn't works for me :(

Hi Reza, Its really nice and helpful, I have requirement that I need to disable delete icon for the first item of gallery. Can you help me how to achieve this.

In the final solution, if you hit the Add button, does this not clear any pending changes in the grid? Add() goes straight to the data source, which would cause the grid to refresh, erasing any unsaved changes. Meanwhile, the changes collection has the changes in it, but they do not reflect what the user sees.

Thanks for another great video. I was trying to exactly repeat the steps you took but my data source is not Dataverse table, it is SharePoint list.
I am facing a problem, lets say I click on add a record and then write in the input fields, as soon as I add a new record the previous row turns to empty and all the input data is gone. Please guide!

I am new to Power Apps. I have an empty vertical gallery with sql view as data source. Let say I have a view name SampleView created at SQL. This SampleView has table1 and table2 joined.If I use Sampleview as data source for empty vertical gallery. How can I update record on table2 only?


Let's say I put Text Input named TextInput1 in the gallery. Its value came from table2. If I modified the value of the first row of TextInput1, how can I update it back on table2?

You are still patching your table when you add new rows before you make a mass patch to update your table using the collection, correct?

Hi Reza, I am running into issue where if the last cell the user edited was a text input field, and user then click on a save button that's located outside of the gallery right after, the onChange() of that input does not get triggered and the collection does not gets the new text and therefore the update to the data source is not correct, what's the best way to get around that?

Is this also possible with a document library? As in change metadata direct to the files (so I have an owner and a status column which I would like to manipulate from the app)

Is there a way create new records using patch and update the previous column (with a update flag that will change to inactive) using same method? I am trying to figure out a way create new item with changes and update previous items with a flag so I can filter it out from the grid gallery. please help!!
