This is likely a bug, but I when I tried to replace thermal nades on my int/tech/cool build with projectile launcher system, I noticed simply aiming at an enemy that's hacked with rank 4 or higher contagion with the thermal projectile launcher triggered the ignition. With some testing, I found it even works from behind cover or through walls. If I so choose, every fight can be: 1) turn on overclock 2)spread contagion all over 3)aim in their general direction 4)everything is dead or crippled.

Even if this is patched, it is still great to incapacitate a group with contagion and other quickhacks while you charge the 5 shots which will probably trigger the ignition anyways. Also don't have to worry about enemies dodging your shots if they are rooted to the ground with cripple. About to reach the engineer rank 55 bonus which will be another way to set off the contagion ignites.

100% agree about Mantis Blades in a blade build, I only ever accidentally pull them out when scrolling the mousewheel and with a shrug, give them a few charity kills.

You didn't do the mantis blade correctly. To get the most out of them you need to proc for finishers and then use the relic leap. Arguably the highest burst dmg in the game.

Synapse burnout every enemy you come across with the 100% crit... death to all ^_^ lol. Almost everything will die to a 4x burnout

I honestly was annoyed every time I ran across something unhackable....because nothing. Is. Unhackable. Any hacker ever will tell you that you CAN hack literally anything if you're creative enough... and it's annoying when the game tells you you can't do ___ because "I said so".

I havent tried the other arms, but the projectile launch seems gimped compared to its launch version unless you pay for power with Phantom Liberty. Without the relic perks and firecracker mods, it becomes a worse grenade since you have less overall charges. It's Doomlauncher perk is far too deep in the skill tree for a secondary grenade option and non of the other grenade perks at the bottom of the tech tree apply to it.

I run a terminator build with projectile launch, ninja builds just kinda boring imo. (Prioritize 20 Tech- 20 Int- 20 Body - 15 Cool). Can also flex points for either smart or tech weapons, could also flex gorilla arms. Tends to be a very flexible spread that can still do stealth missions (Due to tech/Int stats and quickhacking). Sort of a later game build since it needs a lot of parts. (Full Build Below)

Overclock + Heart/Bio/On-Kill/axolotl/Iconic Chitin + Adrenaline Max out causes you to be unkillable and you can use adrenaline for overclock quickhacking. For quickhacking just I use tetra rippler due to increase in weapon damage. For quickhacks that's also the goal, increase weapon damage, so "Reboot Optics" and "Cyberware Malfunction" and "Overheat" is a must. If using smart weapons adding "weapon glitch", if speccing gorilla arms go with "Cripple Movement". Then to use projectile launch effectively slot "Contagion", once grouped enemies affected full send a charged thermal projectile launch.

Tetra Rippler
Reboot Optics - Cyberware Malfunction - Overheat - Detonate Grenade - Cyberpsychosis - Contagion - Short Circuit - Sonic Shock

Can slot in
Weapon Glitch (Smart Weapons) or Cripple Movement (Gorilla Arms)

I tend to ignore "Ping" since you can see enemies through walls anyhow with Cyberware eyes.

I start combat usually on heavy groups by "Cyber-Malfunction" x2 on one enemy (Skull) in the back of the pack, let it pass. Immediately after make them go "Cyber Psycho" for 6 cost. Go ahead and Overclock, then "Contagion" everyone you can, let it spread. Launch rockets everywhere, this will proc contagion, also if next to vehicles/explosive will do heavy damage. After I usually combo with detonate grenade as it should be cheap now. For what ever few enemies lived you have the "Reboot Optics/CyberMalfunction/Overheat" combo on an enemy, the use weapon to pop off. Bonus points if someone is trying to hack you, you can spread (With overclock cost) contagion to everyone, or detonate grenades lol.

Axolotl should have refunded everything and you should have multiple overclocks for more over shield along with adrenaline. I just walk through the highest difficulty with "Order" tech shotgun. Any other tech guns that take advantage of cool tree work great too. Also has ability to go full send on smart guns as well as gorilla arms, although does not take advantage like the berserk perks. Thermal Projectile launcher also just fits so well into this build due to contagion and vehicle explosions. No need to hide much with this build!

When I saw the tech perk that lets you have two hand cyberware slots, I initially got very excited at the prospect of running both gorilla arms and a pls, David-style, then I realized that I had made a mistake, and I got very disappointed.

They're kind of all bad compared to held weapons. monowire is a slow and bad way to regain RAM, you will get killed on very hard in any fight where you really need the ram. smartguns are a way better cleanup and restore ram as well. launcher is pretty good for charging up pyromania though.

Just wanna say the projectile launcher build outlined in this video is so fucking insanely fun it should be illegal, I've been playing something very similar for a couple weeks and I cannot put it down. Gives the game Doom vibes.
As for items being unusable while launching, the biomonitor cyberware fixes that problem. And sandevistan can still be very useful if you charge first, and then slow time to launch. Or when youre just using your shotty.

Sure the mantis blades arent as strong as a katana, but that frees up another weapon slot to have 3 guns plus a mele weapon. Very worth it still for quick weapon swaping without having to pause

Please enjoy this engagement as this is where we part ways. It's a shame too, I really wanted to see how the video ended. 😓

Restarted my 2nd playthrough (female Nomad) as 2.0 came out (so restarted round 2 again during 1.6) using Sandeviston, Gorrila Arms, Lizzie, Widow Maker & the Scapel Katana, restarted 2.0 on Normal (to learn the restructured perks) investment in Max Tech (almost everything), Max Cool (Pistol & Rifle), Body & Max Agility (just for Dash & Katana)

Seen that Monowire is syncing to Net-running my 3rd playthrough is decided. Although a Berserker Corpo "Scientist" ala Incredible Hulk is also on the table 🤔

I actually see the unique tree as a massive letdown, it's virtually empty and adds on a single ability each line, the reworked tree's are ok I guess, not sold on what they did to cyberdecks, but I definately like the blunt tree, berserker build with charge and quake feels like far more of a danger in melee.

In my latest playthrough I tried the mantis blade and was very disapointed in comparison to katanas. Gorilla arms only felt worth it for the "Beat on the Brat" Questline or any other quest where you wouldnt want to kill someone. Monowire felt a little better cause of cleave. To me the launcher just feels better as you can easily get use out of it in pretty much every build as more of a tool.

To be honest I really dislike the Projectile Launcher. It's cool in open spaces, but in closer quarter situations I end up blowing myself up. The animation also takes too long - combining that you're forcing yourself out in the open so you're catching a lot of bullets.

I have no points in intelligence and run a sandevistan, which is exactly why I run monowire.

Being able to apply and spread cripple movement makes it a fun item in my tech ninjas toolkit.

What would really interest me is a build that specialises in quickhacks and shotguns. That is, hacks as stealth and if you get caught and it gets loud anyway, then with the shotgun from the ambush. Maybe play a little with the machete or hatchets for extra gore fun.
I want to create a new character for it and start the game from scratch. So I'm not really into the new skill tree mechanics yet and haven't really understood them. The character planner doesn't really help me either. What I have understood so far is that I have to max out constitution, tech and of course intelligence. Can anyone help me further? Maybe even you @Sam Bram?
PL is installed! ;)

At the moment it appears mantis blades are bugged when it comes to attack speed both from cyberware and the blades part of the reflexes tree. This leaves them felling really clunky as they should be attacking as fast as a katana(actually faster since AS is higher for mantis blades) hopefully this is addressed in a later patch!

I've used 3/4 arms in 2.0 so far, and from the very start, it's obvious Mantis Blades are lacking compared to Monowire or Gorilla. Monowire requires more thinking to actually use, but it wipes entire groups when you do so. Gorillas are just strong, accurate and rewarding. Can't say the same for Mantis.

for enemies that dodge your projectile launcher explosives, kite them to have a wall at their back or sides and blast the terrain around them, or run a cyberdeck and quickhack cripple movement/cyberware malfunction

Actually there is one lmg that barely suffers the time slow effects from the sandevistan, even benefits from it. It's the iconic defender variant called the Wild Dog. The slow makes recoil much more manageable once the gun ramps up.

Very funny to me that the build you recommended for the projectile launcher was pretty much exactly what I had been building in my game, only difference was that I also specced into tech weapons for Bolt shots on tech shotguns. For mid to long range using the launcher to build up mitigation stacks and a few perks to make the Omaha pistol do a ton of damage
