Hi Lydia! Thanks for this really helpful video. I'm finding that when I add a quarter of my waist girth to my dart intake, and then position it 3/4" from the CB, the end of my back waist goes past the center line of the rectangle. I've double-checked all my measurements but everything seems to be right... Have I done something wrong, or do I need to adjust the rectangle because of my waist-hip proportion? Thanks!
ОтветитьI am so confused on the darts. If I follow what (I think) your instruction say, my second mark is past the midway point. Could my dart intake be different maybe? These are my measurements
1. Waist circumference 39.5
2. Upper hip 46.5
3. Hip circumference 48.5
THANK YOU!!! I've never seen this drafting business. For forty years, I've hacked away at a Kenmore machine that belonged to my mother, and I had no idea that there is a way to do this that is simple, elegant, and logical. What's more amazing is that I will be able to do it using stuff I already have: tissue paper from CVS, a bedsheet retrieved from my donate pile, a tape measure, and a good pair of scissors. I had to look up 'balancing' a pattern--also brilliant! It explains why I looked like such a ragamuffin in the 80s, and not so much like Madonna or Cyndi Lauper. My plans now include making a SHARP pair of britches! Brava!
ОтветитьDo you have a pattern to add pockets and the waistband?
ОтветитьIs there a part 2 or video showing the final product? This was super helpful and makes me a lot less scared to try making pants!
ОтветитьHave invested at least 56 hours into drafting the perfect foundation pant. After about 4 muslin drafts, Helen Joseph, and the vogue sewing book I'm here. Be back to let you know how it goes.
ОтветитьKITTY!!!!
ОтветитьHey this is probably super late but one fit issue I struggle with in shorts is that they ride up. Or, my thighs eat them. I haven’t really found an off the rack option for shorts that are comfortable for me so looking to make my own. I think this could be a crotch length issue.. but would love to hear your opinion. If it fits into any of your future videos would love to see! Thanks!
ОтветитьThank you! I'm making my first pattern with this textbook and I've got quite overwhelmed with it. Seeing you make the samples and the extra tips clarified a lot to me! <3
ОтветитьYour instructions were very clear. Good tutorial! Thank you!!!
ОтветитьThis was really detailed and I'm going to try drafting this. The place where I'm currently learning, keeps front and back the same and i know from just looking at existing pants that the crotch length fr front and back has to be diff, so I'll try this.
I wanted to know whether adding a waistband (abt 1.5 inches) affects this drafting. Shld we measure crotch length from top of waistband or excluding it.
Great explanations! This will be so helpful I getting the fit just right. Thanks for sharing all the details of the adjustments.
ОтветитьThank you so much for this video. I want to start designing my own pants this is incredibly helpful.
ОтветитьLove your little fuzzy helper!
ОтветитьThis is very good... however, is there a measurement formula for pants with elastic waist? 🎉
ОтветитьTHANK YOU!!! Your channel is amazing <3
ОтветитьIve seen so many pant tutoriaks and I keep coming back to this video coz it covers everything. very very perfect and professional. I've a question.. If someone don't wear their pants on waist, and prefer a little bit lower, do I still have to draft it from waist?
ОтветитьSuper super helpful!!!
ОтветитьI love this thank you so much :) Your NAME is gorgeous also ....will it be the next HIGH FASHION BRAND :) XO
ОтветитьYour video is so comprehensive😯 thank you for your sharing🥰
ОтветитьI like the way you explained and fit it afterwards. Easy to understand. Love to see the continuation of the final pattern.
ОтветитьI did it! Wrapping paper, scotch tape, Crayola markers, a yardstick and a calculator were all I had on hand when I watched your video and the light bulb came on. I never understood drafting a pants pattern until you explained it. Thank you!!
Ответитьwhat aourt your blouse in this video?
ОтветитьThis is great! Thank you, Lydia. ❤
ОтветитьThank you, thank you, thank you!
ОтветитьThanks ma'am
ОтветитьThank you for the 'Real' drafting and adjusting... and the 'why's'.
Well done! Nice fit.
I didn’t get how to get the crotch extension.
ОтветитьHi Lydia. Could you pls assist further with determining dart intake pls. I love this video! Thank you for your time and effort in sharing your wealth of knowledge 😊
ОтветитьFront waist means? 🥺
ОтветитьYes! Detailed display of measuring. That part always do me wrong. 😂 Thank you thank you!
ОтветитьThank you so much for this video 🙂 I really like to design my own clothes but I don't know how to start. Is there any book or course that can help me learn to draft patterns?
Do you have any suggestions?
Could you possibly so a qucik video on the best way to set you Illustrator toolbar up for the most streamline process of working?
ОтветитьThis was so helpful! Thank you so much for creating this tutorial. It is so empowering to have access to someone breaking this information down to start my own projects! I look forward to more content and AI pattern development videos soon! <3
ОтветитьBrilliant!
Ответитьwhen you say half of crotch depth or 1/8 of hip girth - does that include the added ease? also, initially it says to add 1/2" of ease to crotch depth, but in the next shot it says 3/4" of ease. which one? thank you, great video.
ОтветитьGreat tutorial. I wonder if scopping out the crotch might help instead of adding more to the crotch line.
ОтветитьThis was amazing! I haven’t tried it yet but the video looks so concise and to the point. And I also appreciate the visuals from both the digital pattern and your try on mistakes. Thank you! Do you have a video like this for tops?
ОтветитьThis is excellent. Thank you for making this make sense!
ОтветитьI have a long back crotch length. Store bought patterns I have to extend the back crotch points out. How do I adjust for this using your draft?
ОтветитьThis doesn't "compute" for me. What you end up is 1/4 of the circumference for each section of the pants. My measurement from side to side is larger across the front of my body than across my back. Therefore I think the measurement needs to be taken that way and then halved so that the back and front sections of the pattern is the actual measurement of that part of the body and not a quarter of the total measurement around the body.
ОтветитьThe crotch length on my pattern ended up 4.25” bigger than mine? Anyone have advice please?
ОтветитьHi! I was wondering how big my darts should be if I have a 7” difference between my hips and my waist? And should they always be 3” in from the CB/CF? Thank you for the tutorial!
ОтветитьWhat's the fabric you used for your pants??
ОтветитьMy brain trying to keep up with all this information right now lol:
