GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Review, Nvidia Fails to Read the Room

I know this is 2 years old but why was no one talking about how great the 6900XT is versus the 3090 ! man I thought the 7900XTX was a match!

Buy a games console i guess as GPU's have been a rip off since the GTX 1080ti,in fact buy 2 consoles for the price of a top GPU.

I am not a pc gamer. I am a 3d visualizer who do 3d modeling rendering for a living. Which is best for me, 3080 Ti or 3090? Is worth the price difference of both?

I've heard that GPUs get slightly "faster" or "better" performance when better drivers are developed in the following months after release. Do you think that the 3080Ti would've benefited of these better optimizations if you re-made your tests today? If this performance boost is true, then the 3080 and 3090 had a year of advantage compared to the 3080Ti :/

Most people aren't upgrading in the same model line. I upgraded from 2080 to 3808TI which is twice as powerful, so my upgrade is a no brainer. Cost wise, at this point is probably reasonable. You need to consider if you go 3090 you have to also upgrade your PSU and hope your case layout will accept the extremely larger form factor.

I dono, I have a 3080 and I'm looking at a 3080ti because I wanna play with maxed out settings at 4K 60fps and my 3080 and even 6800xt feel like they have room for improvement. Even 7-10% might do it and with mining being a thing with full unlock, even with lower profits now I'm pretty much decided to go for it.

I purchased an RTX 3080 Ti instead of a 3080 12GB only because the majority of RTX 3080 cards are still slightly above MSRP (At least the ones that ship in the US) with pricing hitting relatively close to $1200 for any model. I was able to get my 3080 Ti at MSRP ($1300 for the EVGA FTW3 Ultra) through antonline, and the only way I was able to get a 3080 12gb at msrp is if I have it shipped from china, which I avoid no matter what.

Still no card can do 4k on max settings. Exoc 1080TI still the card to have until the 4080 comes out

It is May 2022 and after waiting for prices to fall I gave in and bought the 3080 ti oc Asus rog strix for $1700.
First, I have been gaming/simming since day 1 and know the routine. I have been running a 1080 ti for 4+ years and it is still capable. Never abused/clean/all docs/box and was offered $700. Why the 3080 ti and not the 3080? Cause when the day comes the 1st question I will get is "Is it the TI?" Guarantee you just saying TI will sell faster and 25% plus more than just a 3080. It's how people think.. Like GT emblem on a car.

It's not just the TI. It's the market. The normal 3080's have skyrocketed in price as well. So it's not as bad as it first sounds. The 3080's are going for £1000 average. And a TI is only £200 more.

Using "3090 silicon" and making a 3080 Ti allows them to make more cards. Using half of the memory modules, but only 2% slower? This was a good guy move. Lavish and excessive? Absolutely. Did I buy one? You bet. Do I regret it? Oh look, a distraction.

I bought a 3080ti from microcenter in January 2022. Would have bought a 3080 if it was in stock to save the money but then again, I would have happily bought a 3090 if it had been in stock even if it had been more expensive than the 3080ti. I do game at 4k and the extra performance is appreciated.

Set the fan speed in MSI afterburner to 85 percent at 60 degrees C and the Suprim X will max out around 66. Don't use the stock fan speeds on a high end MSI GPU.

Found one for €1400 while the 3080 still cost around €1750 out here 😂 so this might be the first time it made sense to buy a 3080 ti

See the thing about the 3080 Ti is this: yes I get it, it's very expensive and you can call me a fool for buying the TUF Gaming OC version of it. However, it really shouldn't be compared to a regular 3080. It is about 10% faster than a 3080 on average for 70% more money. That is a stupidly, hilariously horrible deal, yes. However, it starts to make more sense when you compare it to the 3090. At best, it's 2% slower than the 3090, yet it is 20% cheaper and has half the VRAM. The 3090 is good for gaming, but it's designed for so much more.

If all you do is gaming, and you want the best gaming performance and can afford it, by all means you should sacrifice that UNNOTICABLE 2% performance from the 3090 and step down to a 3080 Ti. However, if you also do creative stuff like video editing, encoding, blender, 3D Modelling etc. then the 3090 is the card for you. Do not get a 3090 if all you do is gaming as it is a total waste of money and it's 20% more expensive than the 3080 Ti which, again, is only 2% slower.

So do you really want to pay 20% more for 2% gain? I didn't think so. The 3090 does much, much better in these 3D modelling, video editing etc applications than the 3080 Ti. So, instead of comparing the 3080 Ti to the 3080, compare it to the 3090 and it makes a bit more sense. Of course, most people will buy the vastly more affordable 3070, as even the 3080 is pretty crazy expensive compared to the 3070. I do not support Nvidia with its price gouging, by the way, I'm just giving my 2 cents, and it can't be said that I'm totally wrong.


TL;DR: RTX 3080, 3080 Ti and 3090 are all stupidly expensive. The 3080 has the power to SOMEWHAT justify its price, while the 3090 is excellent for those who do more than just gaming. So instead of comparing the 3080 Ti to the 3080, compare it to the 3090 which is 2% better and 20% more expensive. For the best gaming results IF YOU CAN AFFORD, get a 3080 Ti instead of a 3090 if all you do is gaming, as you're spending 20% LESS for basically the same performance. Again, I do not support what Nvidia is doing to us, this is pretty much robbery.

OK, those tests what i can see are played without DLSS ON.. second, you played games all optimised for AMD chipset.. :) but in 4K with DLSS ON, all those games work perfect 60+ FPS i have this card, and i must say its not worth of 2000$, BUT its BEST after 3090 (first for work station, second for gameing), BUT ALSO, for gameing my recom. will be 3060 TI.. for 700$ GREAT CARD !!!

its not about gamers, its about miners, that's why you can flash a LHR card to a non-LHR. Miners will continue to scoop up cards and gamers are left with scraps.

Just got a 3080Ti prebuilt with a i9-10850K and 32GB of ram for $2,999 :D

Went to a few stores a few weeks back looking for 3060 or 70. After no luck got mad and said screw it ill sell this here spare kidney and went back around looking for the mystical 3090
Still nothing to be found then at last stop

Said screw it and picked it up
It destroyed my old build even on an ivy bridge mobo as expected and I payed way too much
Ill miss my kidney (metaphor) but im happy with its performance and thermals

12 gigs is plenty enough for me as im running a very new asus 32 inch 1440 moniter
Pretty much locked in for the next 5 years
Hopefully save or at least do better when i replace the mobo chip and ram out for something a bit more cutting edge

I just bought an EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 ULTRA HYDRO COPPER Metal Backplate 12G-P5-3969-KR. EVGA was selling these prior to all the supply issues for $1469. I paid $1800. A reasonable price these days, and the 3080 really does need to be water cooled because the larger air cooler used on the 3090 should have definitely been used on the 3080. Nvidia blew it on this point.

AMD is no saint lol....they've been doing backdoor shady deals with mining companies for like a year and continue to do so......RX 6800 XT is priced at $1800 USD...WTF!? I would rather pay for 3080 or 3080TI.

Getting really sick about people moaning about prices THEY ARE WOTH WHAT THE MARKET WILL BARE. if u cant afford it just dont buy it. PCs are expensiver suck it up or buy a console.
