No comparison at all .. your master is much better in every aspect .AI master only thing that sounds ok is the vocal.. nothing else

Your master was better by a mile. Thanks for sharing this. I've been fortunate (and spoiled) to work with multi-platinum Grammy winning mastering engineers on most of my projects. AI has a long, long way to go to get anywhere near what a skilled human can do so I won't be using this service anytime soon. That said for the DIY hobbyist with a minimal budget this might be a great option.

The comparison is a bit skewed since you didn't use the same 2-mix that you mastered rather than remastering your work.

In doing so you'd really show what they can do, and have a balanced process comparison.

Your master sounds better but i expected this going in to the test your a pro. I was surprised it did not destroy your master. Ya some things i did not love about waves. But as of this video i think its the best to date.

Yeah...they just mastered it with their plugins......the waves...sounds kind of Crappy...Waves...disappoints everytime....

If I were waves...I would update...my RX Plugins
And Live Analog Sample
The SSL, API and R series plugins..with Convolution and Hyper Tech...that would put them back in the Game
But...they do have the best Sounding API 2500 Comp..if used with Nebula API Plugins....to get the Analog Harmonic Distortion / With/ Their API 2500
So....Using Nebula...with Waves...is the only way ...to really get some Quality Use of thier Plugins
They Lack Saturation....and Harmonic Distortion....they Nailed the Tone of Emulations but the Plugins buy themselves sound to Cold and Thin.....

Yours has more separation, clarity, punch and transients intact. The waves is muddy, the percussive and vocal elements are veiled. Apparently this can match or beat Piper Payne from their words. I don't think it helps them.

Yours had more air and more clarity. Def better. Would have been interesting to see your mastering chain.

AI in 2023 is pretty dumb, I guess by 2050 we will have some decent, there is when real problems will appear because who will listen to an artist if you can do the same at your own taste pressing some clicks, everyone will have their own selfmade music to listen, and some of these will be original enough to be shared across the social thats it. Music is pretty much dead imo , as well as many other jobs

I preferred your mix, mainly because it sounded more "organic". But I can see many people preferring the Waves one because it was louder and fuller. I would really have liked a comparison between the Waves organic version and yours - because (just like you), that was my preferred version they offered. As a "beatmaker," I master my beats myself. Just can't afford to have them all mastered by a human. You never know if a beat is going to sell (well) and I don't believe that a master is the determining factor for whether it gets picked or not. After all the client also gets the unmastered version or even the trackout (depending on the license he purchases) and thus, he has all flexibility in terms of further investing.
