The team didn't fire completely at random when Mac encountered the predator. They actually did what you're supposed to do as a soldier in that situation.

Notice that Mac shouted "contact". Normally you're supposed to call out the direction of the contact, but sometimes a comrade might get stressed and may slip up.

But they did see which general direction Mac was firing in, and so they ran up to support him.

You won't always have the luxury of seeing what contact your comrade saw, so you basically start hosing down fire in the same direction you see him firing in order to add more lead in the air or keep enemies suppressed.

You can't go up and ask him to specify where the enemies are when he's busy shooting, so you just have to trust your buddy and support his firing in those situations.

Regarding the minigun being the same as in T2, one for your Die Hard breakdown. McLane's Beretta is the exact same screen-used gun as Riggs' in Lethal Weapon.

One thing I've noticed from watching the Predator movies is that the Predator species may not have a strong sense of smell if at all. Something that is very helpful if ur a hunter

The cool "clicking"sound of the Predator was voiced by the same guy that voiced Optimus Prime. When he was asked to create a voice for the Predator he said he went to the beach and saw all the crabs at low tide. He said he imagined the voice based on what he thought an alien crab and other crustaceans would sound like. The results is that cool clicking sound.

While the suicide bomb at the end has a mushroom cloud, the actual mechanism looks more like a massive ball lightning. The novelization has Dutch jump in a ravine, which has been shown in nuclear tests to increase survival odds.

One point you didn't mention is the excellent score this movie also has. Just epic.

I always felt the reason he is the only one not smiling in the credits call back was because he.was the sole survivor of his band of brothers.

There's another angle about the Predator's explosion at the end.
Hunters don't pollute their hunting grounds. He erased himself to "preserve" the "forest" his people hunted in. Self-deleting is a bit extreme, sure, but it could be a law or whatnot.

Arnie was at a wedding the day they were filming the end scenes. Why they used the stock footage.
I wasn't under the impression it was actually his wedding but now that I see this.....

My theory for why they reused a scene from the movie for Arnold’s send off as for the other characters doing their own. Maybe it’s a nod to his role as Terminator that he’s not human but a killing machine.

I love this movie. I also love that mission in Ghost Recon : Wildlands, where you and the team are in the jungle and run across
the predator's ship, and then a bit later the predator. Even plays the Predator movie soundtrack.

I've seen this movie easily more than 100 times, and even still reviews like this give me something else to speculate on and view it in a different light.

i think in the end the timer could be the bomb charging before it explode and he laughs cause both were going to die but dutch escapes in time. before that he said in english "what are you?" so the laugh is not the only way he could speak to dutch

The British army SLR weighed 9.5 lbs which is much heavier than the AR-15 at 6.5 lbs. When I served in the army we used do physical training with the SLR where you held the pistol grip and your arm was held out straight sideways to build up hand grip and arm strength. So Arnie should’ve been able to hold a weapon like the AR-15 that way very easily it wasn’t just for show.

To me the long laugh at the end showed more the ironic sense of humor you may have before death. When you know your gimg to do but the adrenaline causes you to laugh surprised you were finally outmatched by the prey. Add that to the majority and i say its spot on

It's a common misconception that only nuclear explosions create mushrooms clouds but any sufficiently energetic detonation will do produce that effect.
Also, Dutch could never have survived a nuclear explosion by running a few yards away, and such a detonation would have created an EMP likely, resulting in the helicopter crashing.

The water did not "damage" the Predator cloak, merely disrupt its effect

I was born in 96. Watched this movie for the first time as a kid. Rewatched it last week. Truly a classic!

A theory I came up with yes the mini gun is the same in predator/T2, but in predator since Mac was best buds with Blaine, the grip he was underhanding is the original hand guard/barrel should for his M60, cus in Vietnam times they gave gunners a kit to convert the M60e1 to E2 or e3, so if you look closely at the bottom of Blaine's minigun, it's a hand guard of an original M60

I do disagree with a few minor takes… specifically the laugh.

I think you missed one very important aspect: the director treats his audience as the dumbest people on the planet. He shows the Predator cycling through his vision capabilities, shooting a random spot in the jungle, and passing by Arnold, and yet they STILL have Arnold say aloud "He couldnt see me", as if to make it clear to the dumb Americans that dont get it

PREDATOR is the last scary movie alien

that part about the concrete tree sounds off. Unless they were using old rotten trees that fell down for the look, a solid wooden beam half that trees diameter can bear a ton of weight

I went to my friends house back in the late 80s when I was about 7 or 8. My friend had two big brothers who were in their late teens. They lent me three movies on Beta-MAX tapes : Enter The Dragon, Red Sonya and Predator. I watched them all that very night, until the small hours of the morning, on my tiny bedroom black+white TV and had nightmares for the next 18 months or so...

When I woke up this morning, I realized it'd been six days since I last had a poo. It bothered me all day, but then I had a poo. An hour later I had another. And just 5 minutes ago, I had a 3rd poo.

When I watched this as a kid I missed the opening scene where you see the Predator's ship in space, so only realised that they were being persued by an Alien much later in the film. It played out much better and added a kind of 'Whatdunnit' quality to the film. Also when first hearing Anna's story about The Predator visiting her village, I initially thought she called it, "The Demon who makes catas - trophes of men". Which whilst incorrect, I always thought was a darker translation.
