"Reykjavik to Iceland" -
Agadmator, 2018
I like how you spoke highly of Spassky as a gentleman and didn't bother to put Fischer down.
ОтветитьAfter seeing all those Fischer serie, I must say Fischer was an real whining ass. Always Complain complain complain.
ОтветитьI got to see Spaasky give a talk at the US open in the late 80s. He said that he and Fisher talked with each other frequently and called him his friend.
Ответитьi think fischer was smart and just trying to psyche out spassky with all his antics
he was trying to gain any edge he could to win not just on the chessboard but in spasskys head
maybe he didnt play karpov after this match because he knew the russians were wise to his psychological tactics
so he didn't have enough of an edge to win? he knew the odds were against him winning
and he chose to not bet against the odds. fischer was smart- not crazy
Was the tournament organizer jewish? Feel like that might be relevant to fischer's behaviour.
"youre making a million dollars off me doing nothing, so i'm going to make you dance" might have been the logic.
Watching this after watching “Pawn Sacrifice”
ОтветитьSpassky : yes i agree
That one time traveler in the audience: *chuckle
Spassky had way more resources than Fischer and still lost. The USSR used this match as propaganda tool and lost! GO USA!
ОтветитьJust came back this video - I really appreciate the effort you put in to cover the context and historical details surrounding the match. Thanks
ОтветитьAre you aware of how noisy old cameras were??
ОтветитьCome on, Fischer's complaints are well-documented. The Tonka Toy cameras of the day were too noisy. And organizers refused to control noise from the crowd.
ОтветитьAnd in this position on move zero, Robert James Fischer lost the game. Thank you all for watching and I'll see you soon.
ОтветитьFischer is a big drama queen! :)
ОтветитьWhere is game 2?
ОтветитьNobbb
ОтветитьFisher maybe wants a sauna before the match.
ОтветитьI'm watching Pawn Sacrifice and pausing the movie to watch each game here. Glad to have these videos. <3
ОтветитьJeez Fisher is a real piece of work isn't he haha with his attitude
ОтветитьI wish you would of made a game 2 clip. Enough happened. Boris sat there for 5 minutes and looked like he was in the middle of a game. Very serious indeed. Then left and the audience sat there for an hour watching 2 empty chairs. Then Boris came back and got a standing ovation for his "win". The Kissinger call, the bureau talking to Spassky to leave and retain the title. The 0-2 lead Boris had now leading up to the 3rd match where Robert had to play black vs an opponent he'd never beaten once. That also had the best prep team behind him whilst Fischer "only" had Lombardy. Enough to validate a "game 2" video and satisfy all the neurotic autists in your fanbase to have this series completed.
ОтветитьWonderful series!
To me this game is Fischer's brilliancy. In his other wins (Games 5, 6, 8, 10, 13 and 21) it is easy to see the progression that led to victory. If you stop this Game 3 after the exchange of rooks it is hard to see an obvious advantage for Black - indeed White has a much more direct mating attack
Two enormous plusses for Black turn out to his pawns on the light squares c4 and g4 (I say "turn out" - did Fischer really foresee this?). When the White King comes out left to meet his nemesis the Black Bishop on d3 rules the game
Volim te i volim tvoje klipove
ОтветитьWhat athlete in games doesn’t get paid?? Fisher was ahead of his time. Your accent explains your slight. Fischer opens w his knight. First time ever. Unusual. Again. You skip. As we say in NYC. Dayum dude. Will watch it elsewhere
ОтветитьSpasski knew very well that Fischer was most probably the greatest of all times so it was good of him to save the championship..Yes he was a real gentleman..
When asked in 1974 ' who do you think has better chance if Fischer decides to play Kortschnoi or Karpov?
His reply came abruptly, ' it doesn’t matter, neither has any chance in 1975 '
Fischer trolled Spassky and everyone else.
ОтветитьBobby and Stu Ungars story’s are complete parallels. It’s actually insane
If you never heard of Stu AND you still believe poker is luck, Look up Stu Ungar. Anyway they were both undoubtedly the greatest ever and person that could ever truly beat them was themselves.
I just saw a mini doku of this match. And Gudmundur Thorarinsson, the islandish organiser of the event says in an interview, that Boris Spassky talked to him 30 years later and that he said: After this game I had lost the whole tournament. Thorarinsson replied: this is not possible, there were more than 20 games to play. But Spasky insisted and said "I could no longer".
Think it was all this pressure from every side (an absolutely must win situation for Boris Spassky) from his Regime as well as from the more than excentric Bobby Fischer.
Flight from Reykjavík to Iceland
ОтветитьThis one of the best games in the match, but Im waiting for game 13.
Ответить"Spassky the biggest Chess gentleman you will every see" As a big fan of Bobby I say 10000000% right on. In fact in some ways I admire Boris Spassky more than Bobby. So thankful I get lessons in how to play but for folks like Boris I get lessons in how to be an honorable and true competitor.
Ответитьjust continue the game please...
ОтветитьI don't think it was a mistake by Spassky, accepting the Fischer's tearms... It just showed what a gentleman Spassky was and that he knew just how emportant the mach was, history, wise. There were numerous other accasions that support that stand... Like openly applouding Fischer, standing up, at the end of game 6. You can not only win like a gentleman, you can also lose like one. The match was never going to happen if EATHER one of these players wasn't at his own best.
ОтветитьI thoroughly enjoy your enlightening and insightful analysis! Thank you!
ОтветитьSuch a great player and such a huge asshole!
ОтветитьBoth made major mistakes that the other didn't Capitalize on ...did you see any ?
ОтветитьFlight from Reykjavik to Iceland? Probably a verbal slip. Else, enlighten me how that works.
ОтветитьLove your chess videos!!
ОтветитьChess will always be my favorite board game.
ОтветитьLove this series!!
Ответить"spassky was very soon regret" really bro (grammar)??
ОтветитьI don't understand if noise was the problem why Fischer did not use ear plugs
Ответить" A soundless replica of the board " Made my day :D
Ответить❤❤
ОтветитьLove Bobby Fischer’s chess games
ОтветитьLove this series!!
ОтветитьAs an American, who has traveled through-out the world, I'm truly embarrassed by Bobby's behavior. Much of the world (outside NA) already considers us loud, annoying, brash, and entitled. So, when traveling abroad, each of us has a responsibility to CHANGE that perception.
We SHOULD aim to be viewed as considerate, respectful, and thoughtful.
Stop behaving like arrogant children.
Spassky is the class-act.
Fischer is the diva.
