Non-sponsored review of the Roadanvi X12 12.3" Android Car Stereo for Toyota Rav4 5th gen

I used the Ottocast wireless carplay adapter with my original Toyota headunit. The headunit occasionally fail to load Ottocast and I'd have to restart the unit which is slow to boot anyway. The Ottocast also has a solid 3-second delay when switching tracks on the phone (using carplay) and almost a 5-second delay when initially answering a phone call and starting to actually speak. However, steering wheel controls worked, and the steering wheel voice button worked to activate Siri which made it easy to voice-text or trigger phone calls or other actions while driving.

I thought I'd give the Roadanvi a try to see if it was faster and indeed it's definitely more snappy, but has its own bugs too.

Pros:
- box includes a short installation sheet, and a printed user manual
- easy to install, can't mess up the plugs, took me about 1 hour for the headunit physical install. I actually spent more time since I chose to add a front parking assist camera.
- boots fast
- nice large screen
- works with hybrid and JBL-equipped vehicle
- has wireless carplay and wireless andriod auto
- initial wireless carplay setup was a bit tricky, ultimately restarting my phone did the trick
- shows a lot of car info like which windows are open/closed, which doors are open/closed, AC settings (which I disabled since I can just use my primary control panel)
- optional if you want to use the sim-card feature
- allows for a front camera (does not trigger automatically when front radar goes off)
- rear camera Does trigger automatically and yes yellow guide lines turn with the wheel.
- has extra USB connections; I used it to run a power cable next to the driver's seat. Hidden when not in use so it looks cleaner.
- No need to run a new mic, it has one built into the side of the unit that works fine.
- Does require a different gps cable but you can just throw it under the dash behind the unit and it works fine.

Cons:
8:04: Randomly talks to me in another language (last 6 seconds of the video) - I can't figure out what it's saying. Sometimes happens 6 times in the span of 6 minutes, and sometimes doesn't play for the whole drive. I disabled all notifications and it kept happening regardless. Timestamp 8:04 in my video - if anyone knows what it's saying, PLEASE tell me.
- Steering wheel next/previous track buttons are backwards
- Steering wheel voice button doesn't trigger Siri when using wireless carplay
- Shortcuts on the Android screen keep randomly appearing and disappearing
- Sometimes have to press a few times to get it to register a press and switch to Zlink (the app that runs wireless Carplay).
- Still has a short delay when switching tracks (1-1.5 seconds, shorter than when using wireless carplay through Ottocast
- Lack of physical buttons to quickly mute/pause the unit.
- Some of the buttons for the backup camera options don't work
- Some of the car settings are displayed incorrectly.
- Front camera doesn't trigger when front radar is triggered for proximity (or at least I couldn't find a trigger wire). I tested all the wires to see if they'd trigger the camera and none of them did anything.
