Beoplay H8i & H9i: Disable Proximity Sensors

This should not be on my default. Ever.

These headphones are the definition of style over substance, form over functionality. God forbid anyone have to deal with the customer support either. Once my H9i headphones die I"m going back to good old Sony

I've to do this every time I turn on my headphone, so annoy with this function

I’m so annoyed by this random pause every second omg. Even tho I turned sensors off it still keeps pausing 🤷🏻‍♂️

You should disable that feature from h8i by factory, it never works stable unless you can stand still..

I saw this video today. I once faced this issue. I read some comments on reddit and this is the solution: first step, put it on you neck, then turns the headphone on and wait for several seconds. Now the proximity works well. The reason is that the headphone needs time to calibrate the initial state. Hope it helps you.

How do you stop H9 Gen 3 from trying to connect to all devices nearby and giving everyone an annoying pop-up that can't be blocked? Turning off BT does not help

Finally I'm able to listen to music during work without it being interrupted every minute by moving my head to watch my second screen. Saved me from buying new headphones :)

Proximity sensor and touch controls on these headphones are a massive letdown

THANK GOD. For the last several weeks my girlfriend has been suffering through my random profanity-laced outbursts brought on by these headphones. How on Earth was this "feature" supposed to "work"? As a product designer/developer, I cannot possibly fathom how a product gets out the door with a problem like this. Do you guys actually do user testing? My audio was pausing literally every time I moved my head, which was every 1-2 seconds as I'm CADing on dual monitors. Like, in what situation did this ever provide a benefit?! Oh, you moved your head... you must want to pause right? Even on a flight this would be extra useless.

The proximity sensors are so annoying. Don't work properly. What is the actual point. Expensive kit so really disappointing.

OK BUT HOW DID IT MAKE IT INTO FINAL PRODUCT??! Did they just not test properly?

STILL having the same problems for a year now even after disabling this "feature", updating firmware, etc. I will NEVER buy another product from this so-called premium company.

I already have a pair of H7s but just bought a used pair of H9i's in perfect condition from eBay... almost immediately disabled the proximity sensor due to dropout problems. IMO this feature isn't fit for use but hopefully the rest is okay.

Hi thank you very much for the video , i have the model H8i , i have done all the steps but i don't get the red light , only a white light , and i can't cancel this sensor , the product is great but with the sensor on the product is almost not usable , it turn off the music even when i just drink or eat , or turn my head right or left . please help me with it

Thanks for the video. It was realy frustrating this morning while running and the music kept going off and on. Just now I'm working behind my computer and the sensors are turned off but the music stil stops randomly (even with the latest software 5.1.1).

Great product, but really bad sensor, it goes off all the time...argh

B & O team, I had the problem that music it pause and play randomly. I found the solution more explained in one of your answers to other person here. I suggest you to make more “visible” this very useful info to another people. Thank you!

I did my absolute best to try to use this feature, since it is super smart in theory, but the quality of it is simply not good enough at all - especially not for a Beoplay product.

Thanks! I love my Bronze edition H9i, but the pause just wasn’t for me. I love your products! My Beocenter 9000, Beogram 9000 and Beolab Pentas make a fantastic system!

I turn it off as it shown this video but it stills randomly plays/pauses music

Bad news that it doesn’t really solve the problem. Red blinked, but it still pauses music randomly
