Import/Upload world to Dedicated Server | Valheim

does this work if it's just the steam cloud file and not a local world file?

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but every time I do it it creates a new world. And it also overrides the same name. So when I try and lock back into it all the progress is lost. Fortunately I have backups for some reason I can't get the server to use a previously saved world

I tried to move it to a different computer running the server and I placed the files in local world I did all the steps but it's not working what I'm missing

For some reason, my server isn't porting over.. i've restarted the process from scratch as well and it's still starting as a new game

does it copy the chest items?

What about creating a dedicated server that's on a different pc?

I cant seem to find my world on the world file when im running %appdata%/locallow? i cant seem to find it is there something Im doing wrong?

For anyone finding an empty Worlds folder in their AppData; try looking in Steam>userdata>85288733>892970>remote>worlds instead.

HI thanks for the video. I followed the steps, the world copied over but not the things we build in the world. How to transfer the whole world including the buildings and progress?

In my worlds folder I don't have any .db or .fwl files. It's only steam_autocloud.vdf. Do I need to download my world file from steam cloud somehow? I don't suppose I can just add that filename as the server?

You don't even show where you drop it. This is a useless video.

Is it still work until now? Because now we save all of the proggress in cloud.

not loading my progress only the world still?

I know you might not respond but ive done everything right i start the server is active gives me join code and everything but when i join throuh the server in steam after i choose my character it says failed to connect

i keep getting "failed to connect" after selecting my character. any ideas?

I somehow completely destroyed my world by following this, after countless reloads and loading worlds.. I now am back at the start and my base is gone. :(

cant get this to work followed every step even from ur other videos, i can get on my server but not port an existing one

just open the script you use to run the server, where is that ? this is ridiculous

terrible absolutely terrible, you dont show where to go to get dedicated server, you do everything so fast i have to pause it every ten seconds, maybe try harder

Very nice guide. I can't however seem to connect via my own computer in the end. I see the server on the server list and everything. I forwarded both in firewall and router. On my router however I have internal and external host boxes. I put my ip in the internal host and the ports and such as you showed.

Should I fill in external host box too?

The error I recieve is just failed to connect.

Edit:
I think I had an old map from an older version. It worked when I tried a new map.

What an awful guide

As soon as i heard your voice I went to hit the like button, but then thought... hold on he hasn't helped me yet!
So no matter what I do my server always starts a new seed 'world' and none of my progress transfers even though I have the exact file name copied over into the world part of the .bat file.
Also I can only find it locally with 2000 ping and cannot connect or find it via my internet IP address... why?

Well. I used this guide. Followed the steps. Created the batchfiles etc. etc.
Now when I start the game, the world is there, but all the structures, houses, ships, bridges everything except me and my brothers characters are gone...... :)

worked like a charm, if you are transferring between computers just use a usb drive then copy and paste

How does the server save the progress? i have a huge world and I am currently leaving my PC online with valheim opened so my friends can continue, however that is creating an issue where trolls atack us and destroy our stuff, ence why i am doing this server, however i am afraid of server rollbacks

Can I just leave the command prompt running so other players can play on my dedicated server or does the game have to be running at all times? It defeats the purpose of having a dedicated server if other players can't play on it without you.

You missed the bit where we take the file from a local server, and copy it over to a friends dedicated server.

I dont think I need the steam_autocloud.vdf file but your video makes it seem like I do. This is just the most vague way you can describe this process ever.

First I couldn't find the file in the FTP! So I made a new folder on my desktop and found the original copied it and used a FTP program to successfully copy my world file onto the server world save file. Now the save world wasn't working or showing up, after countless tries and I kept getting a new map even after renaming. So instead I just Rename everything that same files name and turn off the ingamelist button and now it shows up! Everything is there! Hope this helps everyone!!!!!!! XD

how do i do it if i buy a hosted server from a website? how do i send them the files?

Why wouldn't you also include the option of setting a custom path to a specific world? Especially for people trying to run the server on a different device where Valheim was initially installed?
